FReeper Canteen ~ You Are Not Superman ~ 20 October 2019
Serving The Best Troops and Veterans In The World !! | The Canteen Crew

Posted on 10/19/2019 5:00:45 PM PDT by Kathy in Alaska

YOU ARE NOT SUPERMAN

There are times when some events of life overwhelm us. Things at home or things at work can drain us. Sometimes we sense an urge to be "Superman" or even "God".

We want to "fix" things or "make everything better." In reality, this feeling can be the source of great stress and tension. We sometimes have to admit that certain things can't be fixed; certain things will not go away.

Got a problem, talk about it. It may not get "fixed" or go away, but you will feel better!

Hi LUV W. I need to request prayers for our 5 month old granddaughter, Athena, who was just taken down to the OR at UC Davis Children’s Hospital. She is undergoing a second open heart surgery. The first was at 5 days of age.

That’s over the course of a year. We’re limited to ten hours a day or a hundred hours per month or a thousand hours a year.

"TAKE UP THY CROSS

"I Vow To Thee My Country"
Choir Of King's College, Cambridge

"I VOW TO THEE, my country, all earthly things above,
Entire and whole and perfect, the service of my love;
The love that asks no question, the love that stands the test,
That lays upon the altar the dearest and the best;
The love that never falters, the love that pays the price,
The love that makes undaunted the final sacrifice.

And there's another country, I've heard of long ago,
Most dear to them that love her, most great to them that know;
We may not count her armies, we may not see her King;
Her fortress is a faithful heart, her pride is suffering;
And soul by soul and silently her shining bounds increase,
And her ways are ways of gentleness, and all her paths are peace."

GOD BLESS AND PROTECT OUR TROOPS AND OUR BELOVED NATION!

Amazing Grace
(Click)

By John Newton

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed!

Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me,
His Word my hope secures;
He will my Shield and Portion be,
As long as life endures.

Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, Who called me here below,
Will be forever mine.

When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we’d first begun.

Athena’s surgery was successful.Three of the four pulmonary veins were occluded (blocked). Her blood flow was going through just one vein with about a 3mm diameter (each vein should be 5mm). All four veins are now fully open, and she has good blood flow.

And the ducks were quacking, not quaking. LOL!

Most of the summer there were a max of 20 on occasion. Now they seem to have returned from their summer adventures.

So a few DID show up throughout the summer, huh? Even when there’s food aplenty, they aren’t going to pass up on the snacks they know you’ll have for them. LOL

They know right where to go for winter dining. You’ll need to let whoever buys your house when you move to expect the crowd. :-)

Thanks. I hope I can get the breastplate looking nice too. It’s pretty rough.

Just now seeing this. What an unnerving day but wonderful news that her surgery was successful. Keeping Athena in my prayers for a swift and full recovery.
