A Virginia state senator called Second Amendment supporters "little kids" at a public meeting over the weekend as tensions between gun rights activists boil over in the state.
Sen. Dave Marsden, who supports Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg, is an advocate of proposed gun control legislation and is part of the Democratic majority in the Virginia General Assembly. Instead of apologizing for the insensitive remarks, Marsden called Second Amendment supporters "mentally ill" in a letter he sent following a meeting with constituents.
Mornings on the Mall host Mary Walter read part of Marsden's letter on-air and asked him to comment.
"Too many of your members and other 2A supporters appear to have mental health issues," Walter quoted.
"A significant number of these things were indicative of very unstable people, and this is worrisome," replied Marsden. "The responses I was getting were from people who showed signs of having mental health difficulties."
After Democrats swept into power in both chambers of the Virginia General Assembly last November, gun rights supporters passed Second Amendment sanctuary resolutions in 75 of 96 Virginia counties to protect their rights to own and bear firearms in their localities. Gov. Ralph Northam has threatened to deploy the National Guard if local police refuse to abide by new laws passed in this year's General Assembly session.
"The Second Amendment community is very, very concerned about us approaching the problem as a mental health problem, and this is just indicative of exactly what they're talking about. There are a lot of people who have mental health issues that are engaged on the current issues, and that's a concern to all of us," stated Marsden.

They are opening the jails and taking your right to protect yourself and your family
Great point - connect VA history and right not only to bear arms, but also exercising that right to form a militia to defend our country and its freedoms. That right can still be exercised.
Thanks for inserting some Revolutionary history here too. Do you know the path that the Abington militia traveled to Kings Mountain? Did they follow what is currently Route 29 into (near) Greensboro?
Some of the Regulators from Hillsborough were said to have fled “over the mountain” into eastern TN after the Battle of Alamance. Some of them came back through Sycamore Shoals on the way to fight at Kings Mountain. There is an effort right now to develop the Over the Mountain Trail in western NC.
We are mentally disturbed all the way to the ballot box...

You have raised several issues
First, the Overmountain Victory Trail is a marked National Historic Trail that is part of the National Park system. It is equivalent to other National Historic Trails that include the Natchez Trace and the Santa Fe trails. The link to the website is here:

There is a map tab at the site giving the map of the marked trail that can be taken in a car. I recommend following the trail in your car with the guide as a great weekend road trip.
There are two branches. The first is the route of the SW Virginia company from Abington to Syacamore Shoals where they joined the main force. The second branch is from Elkin NC to Quaker Meadows NC near Morgonton. The NC company followed that route to join the main force. From Morgonton they marched to The Cowpens SC and thence to Kingsmountain NC where they turned the tide of the Revolutionary War
In addition to what can be called a great scenic mountain drive There are excellent stops with good museums and loads of real hands on history. The first is at the Tennessee Sycamore Shoals State Park. The park celebrates the fantastic militia organizational structure that was in place already to fight Indians. That militia structure was easily adapted to taking on and soundly whipping the cream of the British Red Coats scourging the Carolinas and headed west across the mountains.
Then there are the two National Battlefields at Cowpens and Kings mountain. Both have very good park service museums and facilities. Both have staff that will tell you more than you might want to hear about the real history.
Having traveled the route marked by the signs above, you begin to grasp and then actually feel the history.
I mentioned the Abington Muster Grounds. It is a small meadow adjacent to a big old house, on a small creek. The militia companies mustered there lots of times to fight Indians and the Red Coats. They may have even mustered there before heading off to modern wars. Presently, the Muster Grounds are administered by NPS as the head of th Overmountain Victory Trail
The Black face Governor and actually Black Attorney General would do well to study their history and the actual militia forces that formed and killed their threatening opposition. The tyranny the governor espouses was precisely the reason militias were formed and acted. The governor is traveling a dangerous path oblivious to his own state history.
Again, I stress that actually going to Abington and following the trail all the way to Kings Mountain is a very enjoyable and rewarding weekend trip. It is not dry library history but real, fun

Too many democrat politicians themselves ARE “mental health issues”, and need to be removed; they pose a danger to themselves and an imminent threat to others.
This power hungry assclown in particular is a good example. Now do people see why those “Red Flag” laws were being pushed?? All of this was co-ordinated. Anyone that opposes democrats “must have mental issues” and therefore are subject to the whim of the democrats for gun seizures.

Don’t be fooled! The real aim of disarmament is NOT to suddenly pass draconian laws and go door to door to confiscate them. They know that would start a revolution where they would lose.
Their intention is to THREATEN to pass those laws to get everyone all riled up and then “back off” and pass only a few “sensible” anti gun laws. The 2A crowd will think they have won but in reality they LOST SOME OF THEIR RIGHTS.
The liberals are in it for the long game where they nibble away your rights a tiny bit at a time until your great grandchildren will be hailed as heroes when they turn in the guns they inherited to be destroyed.
