McLean’s transition team envisions Boise as the next Portland, San Francisco

Boise Mayor Lauren McLean is looking to mold the city of Boise from a sleepy capital to a regional hub of art, entertainment, commerce, and, apparently, communism.

The details are in a report, “A more equitable city for everyone.” The document, released by the mayor’s office in April, flew under the radar as Boiseans dealt with the Coronavirus-induced chaos. On Friday, the Boise Guardian wrote about the report and deemed the document as “worthy of discussion.”

Unfortunately for taxpayers and small business owners and ultimately customers, who would bear the brunt, McLean paints the picture of a Boise that looks something like Portland, Seattle, or San Francisco after she’s done with it.

Her plan calls for the Boise government to immediately address housing hardships, caused by the political response to the Coronavirus pandemic, by sticking it to landlords.

Her report highlights, among others, two steps to take now:

Prohibit any evictions during the Stay-Home Order time period, and,

Cancellation of rent and mortgages for all in Boise during the Stay-Home order.

The document doesn’t outline how that would occur or who would pay the bill for the cancelled rents and mortgages. Interestingly, the report does not suggest canceling property taxes during this period.

No, we need more good conservatives to help shore us up against the invasion of the lefties!

Turns out his grandparents ran a Basque boarding house in Mountain Home, Idaho.

I spent a lot of wonderful time in Glenns Ferry, not that far from Mountain Home.

I took my wife to visit my aunt and uncle in Ketchum and later Twin Falls when the mountains got to be too much for them. We saw the southern tier Ag regions and the Sawtooths for 30 years on those family visits until one year (about 2013) I said “You’ve got to see the panhandle!” She immediately fell in love with it because it reminded her so much of Lake Tahoe when she was a little girl. She just loves it!

That’s right.

And if you don’t like being barred from voting locally for 15 years, then don’t move there!

Its an absolute travesty how the outsiders move in and change your comfortable and familiar locale to the sh!thole they fled from. Unbelievable.

Very conservative in the Panhandle and rural areas. But liberalism is definitely creeping in.

Nobody we’ve talked to regrets moving to Idaho.

I count myself as an almost-native since Mom was born in Sandpoint, grew up in Potlatch, dad and his brother married Idaho gals, uncle settled there and now we are there.

There’s no justice in that at all.

I remember one scene in the “Yellowstone” tv show where the dad and his young son were sitting on a bench eating ice cream cones, and talking about the outsiders flooding into their small town. Dad told son “The outsiders DO make good ice cream.” That about sums it up.

I would inform Boise residents to identify Democrat voters and convince them to return to Mexifornia. It shouldn’t be too hard.

Live in Mtn Home and assigned to a Fighter Squadron at the base. Great place to live. I was extremely lucky to be offered the job as the Wing’s Flying Hour Manager in 2001 after getting laid off in Colorado Springs when I tried the private sector after 25 years in the Air Force. We barely escaped the invasion of Colorado by California turning into a third world hell hole.

Now we are living through another California and Pudget Sound Invasion. From Caldwell to Boise the population has exploded since we moved to Idaho.

I thought about it, have 2 properties to sell here in California.
In the last 3 or 4 years your prices have gone up to much, plus, I like my privacy.
Idaho just doesn’t have anything left 20 acres and up that’s affordable and far enough out of the towns.

Would it have happened had JR Simplot been around? Boise was a nice small clean conservative crime free city in the 80s. Since then the California and more recent the Middle East imports have been changing it. My wife and her family are Idahoans. Caldwell, Nampa, and Meridian were all separate communities. Now it is all one to Boise. Housing prices going up. Sad because that doesn’t make it more liveable. We used to visit from PA regularly. Even both Repub Idaho Senator want H1B visas expanded now.Oh well.

I honestly wasn't aware that Boise, Idaho was a den of inequity. What exactly needs to be made more equitable?

I think part of her agenda is to create a bunch of useless city departments to provide patronage jobs for her cronies.
