Nike, in an apparent bid to force the Washington Redskins to change their name, has removed all Redskins gear from its website.

Moreover, the vertical drop-down menu on the left side of the screen, which displays the names of all 32 NFL teams, does not show the Washington Redskins.

“Last year, Nike omitted the team name from its annual Salute to Service collection,” according to Pro Football Talk. “The more recent action sends a much stronger message.”

Despite Nike’s apparent new-found problem in doing business with the Redskins. The athletic apparel giant does not appear to have any problem maintaining ties to regimes that use slave labor.

In March of this year, a non-partisan Australian think tank revealed that Nike was one of 83 corporations to maintain “active ties” to factories in China that are believed to use Muslim slave labor.

For me, nike could remove it's entire line of products and it wouldn't affect me at all. As if folks needed another reason to NOT buy anything with a swoosh on it.

“Hope the Redskins stand firm.”

They are about to fold on the question.

Nike has an exclusive contract with the NFL until 2028. I expect there are detailed contracts stating what its obligations are to the league and teams. The owners of the Redskins have to decide whether to roll over or enforce their legal rights.

Yep, they are taking down statues of George Washington so the name will be the next thing that has to go.

“Redskins”? That’s no big deal. My great, great, great grandfather was killed by pirates who were raiding the coast of Hungary (yes, Hungary once had a coastline).

This evil act haunts me to this day. I’m not even comfortable in my safe space (under my kitchen table). I therefore demand that the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Las Vegas Raiders change both their names and their logos.

Plus they must give me some money for all my suffering. A million bucks might just do it.

Nike has been dead for me for a long time. This just reaffirms my position.

Who was forced to go to the Nike site to learn that the Redskins gear had been taken down?

It is like a bear in the woods question.
