Why would the woman and her child travel to South Carolina to kill the man’s ex-girlfriend? Or was it the child alone who travelled to South Carolina to kill the man’s ex-girlfriend? Or did the mother and/or child travel to South Carolina to kill the child’s ex-girlfriend? I’m confused.

Still not a great sentence, but more readable. AGREED but most of the news comes to us without the benefit of proof-readers or copy editors. WIS is a local TV/Radio in Columbia, SC, which is Richland County. Probably this is written by a USC Journalism grad/student. At least it is English ... ?
