Western Wildfires Are Due to Arson and Stupidity, Not Climate Change

Unfortunately, we are living in a world where facts don’t matter much anymore. For instance, the wildfires that have swept across the western United States over the past few weeks are being almost universally blamed on climate change, even though the facts tell otherwise.

The fires in California and Oregon are not due to climate change. They are due to arson and sheer stupidity on the part of many, including those who are responsible for the environmental stewardship that is supposed to prevent them in the first place.

According to the Cal Fire San Bernardino Unit, “the El Dorado Fire, burning near Oak Glen in San Bernardino County, was caused by a smoke generating pyrotechnic device, used during a gender reveal party.” Chalk this one up to stupidity, not climate change.

Likewise, the Almeda Fire in Oregon, which has burned more than 600 homes, cannot be tied to climate change whatsoever because it was caused by arsonists. As Ashland Police Chief Tighe O’Meara said, “We have good reason to believe that there was a human element to it. We’re going to pursue it as a criminal investigation until we have reason to believe that it was otherwise.”

There are several more reports of arsonists instigating the blazes that are currently destroying hundreds of thousands of acres in the West.

Despite these facts, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), recently said, “Mother Earth is angry. She’s telling us, whether, she’s telling us with hurricanes on the Gulf Coast, fires in the West, whatever it is, that climate crisis is real and has an impact.”

Yes, and they were not put out, so as to give the democrats an excuse to blame them on Trump.

Who was it that said if you tell a lie long enough, people (morons) will believe it.

That came from a socialist a few years back so it is no wonder today's socialists are using the tactic.

Well, the guy that originally said it was a member of the National Socialist German Worker's Party. His name was Joseph Goebbels, he was Hitler’s Minister of Propaganda. I believe the quote is “If you repeat a lie often enough, it becomes accepted as truth.” Pretty well sums up the leftists/democrats today.

The problem out west is that politicians got involved in dictating forestry practices.

This is similar to politicians dictating to rocket scientists how to properly send a rocket to mars and land it on the surface.

I believe that every year the Golden State suffers from Santa Ana winds.

I do believe in man-made global warming (oops, climate change!) in certain places, specifically California forests. Humans in California made decisions to not follow the wisdom of the natives, and started not cutting down and removing underbrush, and using controlled fires to burn trees and such, which replenish the soil.

Humans in California caused these current forest fires by neglecting them to the point so that any lightning strike or intentional flame would cause massive horrible fires devastating millions of human and animal lives.

The real science is how leaving enough dried out kindling and tinder would create huge fires. This is what the humans in California have done.

Anyone who isn’t a complete dumbass knows that hundreds, thousands of fires start in this area all the time, lightning strikes, idiots using power tools. yeah, a few idiot arsonists, but a lot of this area burns every year and ALWAYS HAS. It’s just the last 20-25 years of people building in these areas and then being surprised when a wildfire comes through. Nothing new or different; we get droughts every couple of decades, and have for long before there were human beings on this planet.

Man I hate histroncs and paranoia.

A lot of the forest has been killed by the bark beetle...they would not spray for..

“Mother Earth is angry....”

If “mother earth” was “really angry” SF would have been submerged into the ocean by now.

I think most of us accept real truth, but not just messages that are pushed(such as climate change) in the hope that if repeated often enough will become accepted as truth.

California's fires are due in part to a cyclic regional climate change affecting the entire Southwest - a dramatic drip in rainfall and snow (precipitation). The 20th Century was the wettest hundred years in the Southwest in the past several thousand. The historic average for the Southwest since the last ice age ended has been for only 2/3 what it was during the 20th Century, and real droughts saw only 1/3 the 20th Century's average. Plus real droughts in the Southwest can last for centuries.

But right now California's wildfires are more due to idiot forest management. HALF of all the fire-fighting expenses in the entire US are spent in California, and that has been true since World War Two. There is a reason for that.

This summer's wildfires in Oregon and Washington, by contrast, are due to simple weather. The jet stream over them moved, and this stopped the normal summer rains they get, so their forests dried out. Then an unusual weather pattern emerged in which hot dry winds from the plateaus east of the Cascade Mountains stared blowing from east to west down over the Cascades down into the parched forests west of the Cascades with results we know about.

Santa Ana winds affect only southwestern California, i.e., Santa Barbara, LA, Orange and San Diego Counties. California's wildfires this summer are all in northern California, and what really kicked those off was a massive dry lightning storm covering about 30,000 square miles.

Then high winds from the same storm blew the resulting fires into mammoth ones over the next few days. Those winds were from west to east. Santa Ana winds are east to west.
