DOG-OWNERS are 78 per cent more likely to catch the coronavirus, experts claim.
They say pet owners should take hygiene seriously when they're out with their pooches.
Scientists in Spain looked at different daily activities and rated them according to risk of catching Sars-Cov-2.
They claim supermarket home deliveries are more risky than visiting a shop in person.
The researchers surveyed 2,086 people in Spain and around 41 per cent of the participants were aged between 40 and 54 years old.
The study, published in the journal Environmental Research, by the University of Granada and the Andalusian School of Public Health in Spain found that 4.7 per cent of the group had caught the virus at some point - this equated to 98 people.
The participants were quizzed on what activities they had undertaken.
The team stated that living with a dog and taking it for walks upped the risk by 78 per cent.
The experts stated that this could be due to the fact that when out walking, dogs may touch surfaces that are contaminated and then pass it on to their owners.

Did they check a correlation between speaking Spanish and catching COVID? Because I have a hunch their study would have found very damning statistics on this.
It says on my dogs shot record that she gets a coronavirus shot yearly. These people are just evil incarnate. Everyone needs to stop listening to these so called “experts”.
Pray people don’t kill their dogs.
Why would home delivery be more risky? In the grocery store, we encounter a zillion people.
We have home delivery and never see the delivery person. They leave groceries outside on the doorsteps, then I wipe everything down with clorox/lysol wipes before bringing stuff into the house.
So, if this were true then entire hospital wings must be built just to house infected canine care givers. Total BS!

In the good old days, bullshit wasn’t worth much. Nowadays, with government money growing on trees, it’s a thriving commodity.
My wife’s best friend has her groceries delivered specifically to avoid going to the supermarket because she thinks it’s riskier. Won’t she be surprised, at least until I point out how small the sample size is. That makes it more of a joke than a scientific study.
From the excerpt alone, I read:

So what? This is the demographic.

Pretty high rate. How did they test?
How many of those died? I assume from the way it’s written, none.

This is post hoc reasoning error. Correlation is not causation. How many of those who weren’t infected had dogs? How many who were infected had dogs? Where is the correlation factor?

To my knowledge, you can’t catch viruses from surfaces or in the open air. They simply do not survive long enough. Sunlight kills them. Dryness kills them. They require microdrops in a closed environment.
Those are the problems I see with the excerpt. I don’t think clicking on the link is worthwhile.
Faulty cause/effect rationale. Nonetheless, dogs are constantly in your face, hands and crotch so it’s no wonder they spread disease.

Well, Beau & I should both be DEAD by now, because we have ELEVEN Treeing Walker Coon Hounds (and I train and clean up after them all EVERY DAY) and TWO Plott Hounds (same) and one House Beagle (same). Two indoor/outdoor cats, as well.
Also, two raccoons and a mule. When will the ‘Mule Study’ be coming out, I wonder? Don’t turn your back on him, though. He loves to pull your pony tail, LOL!

LOL! I live in the country and she is hardly an attack dog, but then again we rarely run into anyone when we walk. She will “attack” for a belly rub.
