The common thread running through Musk's business ventures is that the government is always his biggest client, and he knows how to sell them. Being the cunning salesman that he is, when Musk needs cash, he opens new locations or moves the business – receiving hundreds of millions in taxpayer funds to do so. When his businesses flounder, he shifts the conversation to one of his other ventures. To his credit, Musk might be the greatest salesman of a generation. How else can someone fund an empire through government coercion and taxpayer money while retaining universal respect and adoration?

Elon Musk is a climate change radical who partners with the government at every turn to enrich himself. Conservatives like Texas governor Greg Abbot shouldn't celebrate the arrival of Tesla and Musk to Texas because he will be coming for the pocketbooks of Texans in no time.

My suggestion is to refrain from gushing over Musk's recent political conversion. Musk is opportunist, and opportunism is a hallmark of the left. He seized the opportunity to make a fortune off climate change, and he's successfully done that. When the COVID insanity ends, climate change is on deck as the weapon of choice that the government will leverage to hijack your freedom. When that happens, Elon Musk will not be on your side.

Don’t worry about Musk. The Chinese will kill him when one of his satellites hits one of theirs.

Yep, biggest welfare queen in the history of the country. but none-the-less, his fan-bois will be here momentarily to defend him; no matter what he does.

He is a petulant rich kid. But he’s not stupid. If you listen and watch, everything he does is with him in mind. I don’t know why—after all these years—anyone expects him to do anything else.

Elon is not the problem. Everyone listening to him is the problem.

Elon Musk is an independent thinker. Just because I don’t always agree with him, doesn’t mean I don’t respect him.

So tell us, just how much government cash did Zip2, X.com and PayPal (Musk's first 3 companies that he foundedc in America) receive from any government?

He's not my friend (I've never met the guy) but he's amusing enough to listen to.

(Also, building a 4-door sedan that does 0-60 in 2 seconds is a cooler thing than any politician has ever done in my lifetime.)

Perhaps he isn’t my friend.
However right now he is the enemy of a number of my enemies.

"When the COVID insanity ends, climate change AMNESTY is on deck as the weapon of choice that the government will leverage to hijack your freedom."

You are a special kind of stupid. When AMNESTY passes the GOP House and Senate, you would suck a fart out of a subway seat for a seat on the first manned trip to Mars with Musk at the controls. Kiss the ring!

Musk is a miner - his business plan mines the public treasuries via the massive tax credits to his customers; tax credits without which he have not enough sales to stay in business.

Once again. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing. He’s great at sending stuff to space and generally has a good sense of humor. Doesn’t mean I want him running the world.

Dear Liberal Idiots,

Please STOP passing your liberal policies, corporate bail outs, tax loop holes and subsidies and expecting good republicans to NOT take advantage of them.

OR

Stop whining about people who are smarter than you!

The tax credits and contracts that Musk and his businesses benefit from are not specially appropriated to him but are available on competitive general terms to serve national policy objectives.

For example, the federal grants and contracts that were the foundation for Space-X and remain a major part of its business were to service NASA missions and other compelling federal launch needs. Lockheed-Martin and Boeing did not make a serious effort to develop new launch technology because they already had a fat, exploitive duopoly in the launch business.

Yet Musk did what few thought possible and as a newcomer applying available technology, drove down launch costs with reusable boosters, powered by small clustered engines using a cheap LOX-kerosene fuel load. Musk thereby reshaped the entire space business to the benefit of everyone except smug executives at Lockheed-Martin and Boeing.

Yup, Musk is a climate change believer, but is that really a mark against him? That is a standard belief among America's educated class, but says little about him as a businessman. Just why are Musk and Tesla to be slammed for benefitting from electric car tax credits but not the big, established auto-makers now entering that market?

To Musk's credit, he is a genuine entrepreneur and business pioneer of the first order. And, best of all, he sometimes openly says and does conservative things. Yeah, Musk is also a bit squirrelly, but I like him and cheer him on.

“In 2018, Elon Musk reportedly donated $6 Million to the Sierra Club...”

Which he probably turned around and wrote off as a business expense. The more people get hysterical about the climate, the more cars he can sell.
