The left loves absentee voting, so I say let’s give it to them. And let’s make it as easy as picking up a scratch-off lottery ticket from the local store. Hell, let them vote on their phones. What could go wrong?

What prevents fraudulent voter registration? What prevents voting for others?
Voting should require a government issued photo ID. You can’t buy beer without photo ID, so don’t tell me that it is an unreasonable barrier to voting.
When you vote we do the hand stamp like at the pub. You can’t vote again if you have a stamp, and it is hard to wash off. If I am willing to get stamped at the pub on St.Pat’s day it isn’t a big deal.
And the time to vote must be 30 minutes or less. We pay people to run the polling stations. I am paying these people. I expect them to be competent. If you can’t manage the voting process and have sufficient resources to manage the number of voters we will fire you and hire someone who can do the job.

And it’s not a secret ballot scheme.
I have a better idea. Vote by county. County with the most votes for a candidate gets 1 point. Most points in the state gets the electoral vote. This way the firewall is at the county level. For example, let’s say California has 58 counties and Democrats win 25 of them by 25 million votes or 125% of the registered voters. Since 33 counties will go for the Republican, California’s electoral votes will go to the Republican candidate.
Vote as many times as you like. Fact of the matter is the cheating doesn’t extend beyond the county level. It will meet all Democrat criteria for 1 person 1 vote.
Propose this in congress and what the Democrats howl as they are hoisted on their own petard. For the Senate, it’s the same thing. For the house, it’s by district so who cares.
That’s how you fight a war.
Here’s the flaw:

Each ballot should have a serial number. Ballots should all be scanned and put in a database on the web, so the public can do their own audits.
Elections should be on Saturday, and Election Day should coincide with tax day.
Clean voter rolls.
Registration 30-day deadline.
Voter ID.
Paper ballots with watermarks and security features.
No counting machines.
Precinct reporting deadline.
The beauty of our federal system is that an individual state could experiment with this. If Vermont wants to give it a try, I say go ahead. I will consider it if after the election the media howls at the injustice of it. That would have meant it actually worked.
Make election day a federal/state holiday where everything except for public safety is shut down.

The Democrats will be working overtime to find an excuse to declare it racist.

What is preventing spoofing of the results or hijacking of the votes?
Being centralized, there’s no way for anyone outside of the people collecting the votes to prove the votes are being properly added into the system or including on the counts we would all see.
You can enter with abandon all the legit votes you want, but insist on showing to people what you want.
Think about the spoof sites in emails you get each day. If someone corrupted the website, you can’t trust a thing that ever comes out of it, an no one will audit it if the numbers are overwhelmingly showing a winner.
Does she have interest in elections?
July 4th would be way to hot in many places. People fainting in line would lead to more calls for vote from home.
Ooh, now that’s brilliant. The first Tuesday after tax day would work perfectly.

While we’re fantasying, why not change election day to April 15. Place the presidential candidates on the 1040 form and also have that selection available on the Turbo Tax types of filing.
One vote for each taxpayer. Easily verifiable.
