Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said in an interview with USA Today a national abortion ban is “possible” if Roe v. Wade gets overturned this summer.
“If the leaked opinion became the final opinion, legislative bodies — not only at the state level but at the federal level — certainly could legislate in that area,” McConnell told USA Today when asked if a national abortion ban is “worthy of debate.”

The Constitution was written to specifically name the functions of government, and the BOR was written to tell the government what it was specifically NOT allowed to do. In other words, whatever was not specifically allowed was prohibited.
Since about the early 20th century, politicians have decide that understanding was incorrect and believe that whatever isn’t specifically prohibited, was allowed. And they believe that practically anything is allowed.

Agree. The Tenth Amendment cuts both ways. The federal government should not be able to enshrine a national abortion right or a national abortion ban.
Both sides of the argument will have to fight this out state by state.
My prediction is that a good number of states will ban abortion in most cases. A good number will have abortion on demand. A good number will have European-style restrictions at 10-15 weeks.

Why is he even opening his mouth? All this is going to do is stir up a particular group in the Democratic Party. Just let this lie. Besides I doubt he would sign that any more than most of the Republicans in Congress.
This was always a state issue, the federal government should just stay out of it.
Some states will always allow it, some won’t.

There should be 50 State laws that define personhood as a human being from the moment of conception. There should be a federal law (or preferably a constitutional amendment) that does the same.
I’m not a fan of abortion laws because they deny the fundamental issue: a baby in the womb is as much a person as a baby who’s been born.
If they pass personhood laws then existing homicide laws can deal with the slaughter.

As this disaster continues to unfold, silly things keep being said. The first purpose of the SC is to enforce the constitution. If the SC, also Alito, thinks that protecting the right to human life is up to the states, then there is no point to the constitution and no other right matters.
If Congress can’t pass a law to say you can’t murder, then it can’t do anything and has no powers.

Can't see how that is Constitutional. You see states make their own laws when it come to alcohol. So I see it similar to abortion, IF Roe vs Wade gets overturned. Otherwise, we'll need a Constitutional amendment guaranteeing the right to abortion. I mean, that's what we did when it came to alcohol. We actually had an amendment to prohibit alcohol in the entire country.
