Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said in an interview with USA Today a national abortion ban is “possible” if Roe v. Wade gets overturned this summer.
“If the leaked opinion became the final opinion, legislative bodies — not only at the state level but at the federal level — certainly could legislate in that area,” McConnell told USA Today when asked if a national abortion ban is “worthy of debate.”

The SC says that this ISN’T a federal issue. So a federal law wouldn’t be valid.
The less he speaks, the better off America is.
No....He believes that most people have a conscience and that abortion can only be murder of a human being at an early stage of its development. And that development begins at conception.
That’s how I see it. I really don’t see how anyone can think that legislation can be a replacement to Roe v Wade. It’s a state matter. Unless, of course, politicians don’t care and just think they can do whatever they want ...
Perhaps Mr. McConnell could show me where in the United States Constitution the House AND Senate have this supposed ability?
I have looked several times, and I am at a complete loss where he sees the authority given.
Why does he fall for this and say exactly what the dems want him to say?
At a certain point you’d thing McTurtle would have enough bribe money to ride off into the Beijing sunset.
Because he’s an assistant Democrat.
Not with him in charge.
That guy could screw up depositing a million dollar tax refund, so badly that Kamala Harris would wind up with it.
You’d better hope he’s wrong - because if Congress can do that, they can also have national pro-abortion legislation, which would be much, much more likely to pass.
Maybe. Or maybe it’s because he’s 80 yrs old & his brain is too slow to realize what’s happening.
Anything that pos can say to help democrats he’ll say.
GOP has to dump his sorry ass.
It’s statements like this that are replayed over and over on CNN, NPR, and MSNBC until the liberal masses become further enraged.
Because the last thing McConnell wanted to see was for the Supreme Court actually to overturn Roe. Not that McConnell ever gave a sh*t about the abortion issue itself, one way or the other. But "judges, judges, judges" was the only red meat that McConnell ever had to throw to the evangelicals, and if Roe finally disappears as a political issue at the federal level, what else does he have to get those trogs and rubes to continue to slavishly, mindlessly vote Republican?
That's my guess, anyhow.
This is Mitch trying to flip one if the Judges
Isn’t this a good thing?
No it didn't.
Exactly
McConnell is just plain wrong. The SCOTUS want’s to turn the current ruling over to the States where it should be.
