NATO Moves Into Finland as Russia Threatens Response
Newsmax ^ | Wednesday May 11, 2022 | Eric Mack

Reports are surfacing of military equipment of the United States and other NATO countries on the Russia-Finland border. U.S. and NATO armored vehicles were spotted on the border, along with Finnish tanks and armored personnel vehicles, according to a translation of a Shraibikus News report. There have been reports of military exercises in Finland, but Russian intelligence reportedly suspects the military buildup will remain until Finland joins NATO. The report also indicates Finnish authorities are anticipating Finland joining NATO within a few months. Russian analysts consider the military presence on the Russia-Finland border to be a threat, particularly as NATO allies are supplying lethal aid to Ukraine amid the Russian invasion. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko told RIANovosti that Russia is watching the situation and will consider a potential response. "It is clear that from the point of view of security we will not remain indifferent," Grushko said. "Our military will consider all the necessary measures that may be required to ensure the legitimate interests of defense." While the forces conducting the exercises are likely doing so to defend Finland against an invasion by Russia, Grushko added it represents a dangerous escalation that makes neither Finland nor NATO more safe. "This will not strengthen the security of either Finland or NATO itself," Grushko told RIA Novosti.

Not at all.
Thinking this sort of thing is “a bit much” IS the Russian problem, in a nutshell. Its a defect of psychology.

I’ve always thought “How to Win Friends and Influence Poeple”, Dale Carnegie, should be required reading in the Russian nomenklatura. They need this very very badly.

Back in the day, with the aid of communist ideology, the Soviets did much, much better. They did favors, they sucked up to “agents of influence”, they gave free trips with caviar, the sent the Bolshoi off to places for free, they gave out scholarships, you name it.

Putin will be stuck selling it at a discount to India and China, the latter being the only real strategic threat to Russia, while Putin has destroyed Russia’s military capability over Ukraine’s threat to his ego.

NATO is used to pull off stunts for the Democrats , a war machine at their beck and call. Clinton, Obama, Biden, all have used NATO .

Heck, they could have even given “Bald and Bankrupt” an award for his PR efforts in humanizing Russia. Given him the keys to Petersburg or something. Gestures work.

What, and bail out of their perfect excuse for getting us into a war?

This is like WWI, but with nukes.

Good times.

The most effective PR move Putin ever did was to finance “global warming” activists in the West. That has certainly helped reduce western competition for oil and gas. But that was not an effort Russia ever admitted to, or ever tried to use to burnish its image among such factions in the West.

This was a strictly operational, unfriendly move vs western countries, that nobody on either side wants to openly admit to, because it would embarrass “greens” in the West, by association, and expose Russia as hypocritical.

Its been WWI for about 5 weeks or so.

Back in March it wasn’t.

Next month it could be something else. It doesn’t look like its a dynamic situation until stuff going on in background suddenly takes effect. What that will be is anyone’s guess.

"So Pidor Putin invades Ukraine supposedly to prevent Ukraine from joining NATO

I agree... and if Russia were to be successful in Ukraine, then NATO would border Russia via Poland.

Pootie would leave the chunk in the west, cut off from the sea, a lot of its farmland, crawling with stray antitank & antiaircraft missiles and dependent on the Eurodupes for a monthly multi-billion Euro handout...

Yup. How else do you get a bear skin rug unless you first kill the bear?

Jon, just admit you have nothing.

You claimed that, “our State Dept has taken credit for killing Russian generals and sinking ships.” and there is bupkus to back that up.

You were wrong. Be a man and accept it and I’ll at least respect you for that much.

Welcome to a world of dupes. Every Euro parliament has a good chunk of its voters influenced by just such people, which is exactly why Putin was helping them out, duh. And its worked, hasn’t it?

Even pinheads matter in parliamentary democracies.

“Being as I am a peaceful fellow, I suggest that Russia try its best to head this off with a peace, love and flowers offensive to Finland and Sweden. Go make much of the Swedes. Offer them some sort of prize. Pledge endless appreciation for their peaceable Swedishness. The Swedes in particular really like that kind of thing. Give Sweden some sort of gift. Send a horde of pretty girls to do the “negotiating”.”

Nicely stated.

But perhaps you missed the peaceable appreciation the Russians recently displayed to the Swedes when they sent two nuclear armed aircraft into >> Swedish airspace << and not just the Swedish ADIZ. They had the idiotic nerve to bring nukes into Swedish territory thinking this display of Russian thuggery would impress the Swedes.

The Swedish response was that henceforth they would assume that all Russian aircraft are armed with nuclear weapons and that any such aircraft found in Swedish airspace again will be killed.

And that was about the limit for the Swedes and now they’re joining NATO when this time last year a good 80% of the Swedes saw no reason to join NATO.

Like you said, Pidor Putin accomplished ending Swedish neutrality and neither the Nazis or the USSR could do that! He ought to be proud of himself!

I suppose, but that’s not my real point. Ukraine was part of the Soviet Union for 60 years, and there are a lot of national Russians living there. So they have a dog in this fight, but what is ours? To protect the Bidens’ illegal business ventures? They’re not even part of NATO. It’s not worth going to war for. That’s all.
