Doing FDA’s Dirty Work: Amazon Pulls Popular Supplement So Big Pharma Can Profit
The High Wire ^ | 3.21.23 | Tracy Beanz & Michelle Edwards

Amazon—the vast global internet enterprise that single-handedly shuttered countless smaller retailers—is putting the interests of big pharma ahead of the health and well-being of its customers. In a move that surely pleases the FDA and pharmaceutical companies, Amazon decided last month to no longer sell nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN), a molecule naturally occurring in all life forms and vital in longevity. On the cutting edge of lifespan research, Amazon’s decision to remove NMN products is unrelated to safety issues. Instead, it hinges on a recent FDA decision announcing that because NMN is under investigation by big pharma as a potential new drug, it can no longer be marketed as a supplement. With the FDA’s corruption in full view thanks to COVID, this isn’t the first time the agency has allowed pharmaceutical giants to turn natural ingredients into profitable drugs while banning the affordable supplement version.

Like many health-related choices tainted by government bureaucracy, there is, of course, a somewhat convoluted and complicated backstory behind how this can happen. But to be brief, the FDA can remove a healthy natural product from store shelves because of the preclusion provision of Section 201 (ff) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. This provision states that before a company can market any “new dietary ingredient” (NDI)—which means any ingredients that weren’t sold “in or as a supplement” before 1994—it must first submit a notification to the FDA with studies proving its safety. The guidance appears relatively straightforward, but not when, as is the case with NMN, the FDA deliberately blurs the lines.

“NMN is a naturally occurring molecule”

https://www.healthline.com/health/nmn-nicotinamide-mononucleotide-benefits-side-effects-and-dosage

This supplement cannot be patented. It was already sold as a commodity so you can’t walk it back and patent it.

You can patent it for a particular purpose, but that makes for very weak protection. Probably not worth patent filing fees, much less patent attorneys’ fees.

You can get it at the Vitaminshoppe.

I’m convinced the CRUX of our health turning around is our gut/liver. When you get your stomach acid to better levels and increase enzyme production, everything falls into place. This is our ‘kingdom’ (in our body) and when you seek first the kingdom all these things will be added unto you. This is not meant to replace the TRUE Kingdom of Jesus Christ, but our temple does have a kingdom.

Betaine is very effective at increasing stomach acid and enzymes.

Not naive.

Just FDA/CDC and every other 3 letter agency approved.

Not really.

“Advantages of Liposomal Delivery

High bioavailability and absorption compared with other oral forms of supplements.
Noninvasive; avoids pain and discomfort associated with injections and decreases the contamination risk.
Micronized encapsulation protects against the harsh environment of the GI tract and increases transmucosal (oral) uptake and absorption.
Increased intracellular delivery.
Can hold both hydrophilic and hydrophobic compounds.
Ideal for those for whom swallowing a tablet is not possible.
Allow for adjustable and incremental dosing for children and adults.
Cost effective by being able to take a lower dose for the same effect”

companies like Swanson and puritan’s pride and others likely carry it0- amazon doesn’t deserve to profit from vitamins and such if they are working hand in hand with big pharma- Besides, companies like puritan’s pride often have “Buy 2 get three free” sales-

You are correct on that! I have taken liposomal vitamin C in the past.
https://www.amazon.com/Lypo-Spheric-Vitamin-Bioavailability-Professionally-Phospholipids/dp/B000CD9XGC/ref=sr_1_1?crid=ZFT65TZ18S7M&keywords=lipospheric+l+vitamin+c&qid=1679466472&sprefix=liposheric+l+vitamin+c%2Caps%2C91&sr=8-1

Making it liposomal also means extended time release

Agreed. I stopped buying anything from amzn when they pulled the plug on parlor. I never looked back. I only buy my supplements from w e l l e v a t e. Me. They have the best prices and I buy a lot of nutrients

Try vitaGlow in Syracuse, NY—— https://vitaglo.com/

Very inexpensive for many items. My friend buys tons of supplements and orders from them and others. Syracuse is a depressed city so they can save on rent, salaries and expenses. And they save by having a non-slick website. So they can pass on the savings to U!

Thanks, i will check that site out- I wish Elon would buy Amazon and turn things around- its such a convenient place to shop and has a huge selection of many different things, but they are going hard woke unfortunately. They profit from their capitalism, then turn around and condemn capitalism. They are shameless

the prices at amzn are off the charts expensive because they had a fee on top of all the items that others are selling. Wellevate.me sell alot of the quality supps I like, like Iodoral (iodine) and Metagenics Mag glycinate (as 2 examples). You get an automatic 35% off every item. I used to pay like 65/bottle for the mag on amzn now paying $35

I used to get supps at Swanson and like them. I pretty much will never buy at vitacost again because they dissed Rush Limbaugh (they Mike Lindell’d him)....remember that? They were an advertiser and pulled their ads from his show because they’re woke losers.

You may need to be ‘invited’ to join wellevate and if so, let me know and I’ll get you the gal’s name.

I love sulphur but I have to take it in spirts as I seem to get bloated from it. Sulphur is really good for you.

Weren’t you taking iodine at one time?

“Weren’t you taking iodine at one time?”

Yes. Lugol’s I will resume it soon. Dosage amount is important. It was making me nervous and too revved up. Since you are taking it I will too/ But Lugols in apple juice.

I remember our exchange on iodine. Amazon has many iodine books there days.

I always felt pretty jittery on Lugol’s too so I switched to Iodoral, which is the pill form of Lugol’s. Be sure you’re taking selenium as well; critical to keep that balance.

the iodine protocol is magnesium (not oxide or citrate forms), vitamin C, iodine, selenium and salt.
