Vladimir Putin’s presidential plane left Moscow early Saturday, sparking rumors that he had fled the Russian capital as the Wagner Group’s mercenary forces advanced on the city.
The president’s aircraft was spotted on flight radar flying northwest from Moscow to the St Petersburg area — but then disappeared from the system near the city of Tver, the BBC reported, where Putin owns a large rural retreat.
Putin spokesman Dmitry Peskov denied that his boss had turned tail amid the crisis, telling news agency TASS that he was “working in the Kremlin.”

“I wouldn’t mind putting down $1000 saying that Wagner won’t be controlling Moscow.”

I think the odds are pretty good you’d be right. Putin is still holding lots of cards and has more ways to buy/incent loyalty than the upstart Prigozhin does. In the end, paymasters with the biggest rewards system usually win.
The unintended consequence of this revolt could actually strengthen Putin’s hand. Not saying that’s a good thing, just trying to be objective about the situation.
Yup. Definitely freer and more prosperous.
Right.
Thanks for posting that article. It was a refreshing break from the back and forth news.
We should stay the hell out of other countries wars and politics! This whole policing the world thing doesn’t sit well anymore. Not sure if Iraq, Afghanistan, Serbia, and Syria opened my eyes or what. Our country is a shite show right now. We don’t have the moral high ground anymore.
Yes, we all look forward to “something good” such as regional launch of nukes by two warring factions.....
As privateers? Letter of marquis?
Pretty sure they are soldiers of fortune, but I cannot be right all the time...
I just heard on SKY that Wagner has agreed to de-escalate.
War of the words?
First war of press releases on social media war?
So far, I’m not impressed.
BS.
Even the infant church was convinced it was eminient.
“I just heard on SKY that Wagner has agreed to de-escalate.”
Yep, sounds like the party is over for the Neocons, and now they have to get back to the REAL WORLD.
They seem to have destabilised themselves.
Most troublesome things in the world have no reference to the US, or just marginally so. Putin created Wagner under his “fixer” Prigozhin as his personal army, to do his dirty work. He then mismanaged the lot of them, his regular army leadership included. Putin was too clever by half.
Now he has tens of thousands of out-of-control barbarians at his door.
The idea that the US has anything to do with @#£% like this is parochial. Other people exist, and they will do what they will do, they aren’t under US control,
So where’s the Donald’s solution. He’s been quiet.
Yeah. Not.
Prigozhin is at war with MOD of Russia , he so far indicated his quarrel is with two generals in the army.
However at this stage you cannot really Trust Prigozhin
and even Putin Himself cannot trust that he will not proceed as if its a Coup.
What can also be ascertained is that its unlikely he is acting without outside Influence.
“Lukashenko announces that Prigozhin has accepted Lukashenko’s proposal to stop Wagner Group’s advance in Russia and start negotiations.”
Negotiations in which Shoigu and Gerasimov are sacked are a win for Prigozhin. Even bigger if Prigozhin becomes Minister of Defense in the fallout.
I know little about Russian politics, but it's my understanding there are so many high level power-players that Russia can be compared to various tribal societies throughout the World. There is also a huge Russian mafia with much influence. Follow the money with both the Politicians and the Mafia.
The scary thing about this new development is who will wind up with nuke control? President Trump would have stopped Putin's most excellent adventure in Ukraine before it started. Biteme is saying "God save the Queen, man" and other such daily nonsense.
My concern is Putin may use a couple of tactical nukes if Prigozhin gets within coup ability, and how will that impact the US and NATO?
