Biden admin forces family of soldier killed in Afghanistan withdrawal to pay $60,000 to transport her body to Arlington National Cemetery

Honoring Our Fallen, a non-profit that helps families of fallen American service members, covered the cost of having Gee’s body transported.

The family of a female Marine who was killed during the disasterous withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021 was forced to pay $60,000 to have her body flown from California to Arlington to be buried.

Nicole Gee, 23, was one of 13 service members who were killed during a suicide blast at the Kabul Airport in 2021, per Daily Mail. There were also 170 Afghans reportedly killed in the attack that ISIS took responsibility for.

The attack took place on August 26, during an evacuation attempt near the US embassy.

Cory Mills, a Republican lawmaker and Army veteran, reportedly met with the families of the 13 service members who were lost in the attack. He was told one of the families was forced to pay $60,000 to have the body of a loved one moved to be buried.

Honoring Our Fallen, a non-profit that helps families of fallen American service members, covered the cost of having Gee’s body transported.

Her body was initially transported to her hometown of Roseville, California for a ceremony, but her family was then told they were financially responsible for moving her body to Arlington, which would be her final resting place, per the report.

Mills’ office noted that the defense department was allowed to decline to pay for the transportation of Gee’s body due to last year’s change to the National Defense Authorization Act, according to Fox News.

The change notes that the secretary of defense may provide a fallen soldier’s family “a commercial air travel use waiver for the transportation of deceased remains of [a] military member who dies inside a theater of combat operations.”

Mills said: “Typically, our fallen heroes are flown back home for a solemn service and then laid to a final rest at Arlington Cemetery with the utmost respect and honor.”

“It is an egregious injustice that grieving families were burdened to shoulder the financial strain of honoring their loved ones.”

The least the military can do is fly them home.

There aren’t enough expletives in the English language to properly characterize this travesty!

Biden the Corrupt has plenty of money for deadbeat student loans but not $ 60K for a family that lost their daughter in service to the country. What a sick, twisted bunch we have “leading” this country.

“”””The least the military can do is fly them home.””””

The little I’ve read said they did, to where the family directed them to, California.

I have a friend who is a travel agent. One of her clients died on a cruise in the Bahamas. The body was transported on a helicopter to Miami and the helicopter company billed the family of the deceased $50,000. The travel agent investigated and found that the helicopter company had also transported, for free, a number of medical personnel not related to this incident on the same flight. They were not billed. (I don’t recall how this part happened, but the helicopter company was forced to divide up the bill between the passengers. I’m pretty sure the other passengers were not expecting a ten grand bill for a short helicopter flight. But things like this happen.)

If they did fly the body to California, than it’s reasonable for the family to make arrangements to pick up the body wherever it was flown within the state, imo.

Yep, you nailed it. They know exactly what they're doing, too. Have been at it, especially since Barack.

Plenty of money to pay Zelensky. Didn’t bother that criminal regime in DC to leave billions of dollars worth of military hardware in Afghanistan for the Taliban, but they didn’t care enough to bring this soldier home to her family.

That kind of sums up how I feel about that.

Mills said: “Typically, our fallen heroes are flown back home for a solemn service and then laid to a final rest at Arlington Cemetery with the utmost respect and honor.”

It has been my experience that many families regret choosing Arlington, as they discover they would rather have the remains closer to home. During the Vietnam war, loved ones sought to protest the war by choosing Arlington. I've heard this over many years.

Since WW1 we always brought our troops home, even when other countries like England decided to bury them overseas.

When visiting a WW1 cemetery in France last May, the superintendent said family still has the option to request repatriation of remains. Ditto at Normandy where more were brought home than buried there. And WTH did we tramp through mountains in Korea, jungles in SEA and even the Pacific islands….looking for bodies…to bring them home.

This is a Disgrace. Esp when a senile old man is spending over a hundred Billion from a congressional slush fund handed to him for a corrupt hellhole known as Ukraine.
