Friday, during an appearance on FNC’s “Fox & Friends,” former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, a candidate for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, argued the correct approach to taking on abortion for Republicans was to “humanize” it.
According to the former South Carolina governor, the GOP demonizing it only added to the division in the country.
“Be realistic with the numbers,” “Fox & Friends” co-host Ainsley Earhardt said. “Yes, we don’t have enough votes in the House or in the Senate to abolish this. How did you come up with this answer, and what are you hearing from the voters after that debate?”
“I mean, Ainsley, that’s the answer from my heart,” Haley replied. “You know, I am surrounded by blessings, and God has blessed me with an amazing husband and two wonderful children. But having said that, I think it’s really important that all of us remember everybody has a personal story. So while I’m unapologetically pro-life, I don’t judge anyone for being pro-choice. I think that we have to humanize this issue. We’ve got to stop demonizing this issue.”
“I think the division in this country has gone too far. We have to start looking at the vision going forward. My vision is how do we save as many babies as possible and support as many moms as possible. If that’s the case, be honest with the American people. Tell them what is possible and what’s not possible, and let’s bring people together based on humanity, not based on making people hate each other. And I think it’s happened too long, and I’m just not going to be a part of that. I refuse to be a part of that.”

Lindsay Graham made his proposal when we had Democrat majorities in the House and Senate and a pro-abortion president. His proposal had no chance of passing and served only to rally Democrats and to discredit Republican candidates who were arguing that abortion policy should be set at the state level as it had been done prior to Roe v Wade.
Just as male candidates have to transcend politics beyond men to include women, female candidates have to do the same, and yet they often get locked into putting out policy proposals that only deal with women, or they say silly things such as “If you want something said ask a man. If you want something done, ask a woman.”
I really like this thought process. It becomes a civil right issue ( for the unborn human), therefore any state laws allowing the murder of the preborn would be unconstitutional, and you would not need a federal abortion law, which itself woukd violate the constitution. But this declaration of personhood would achieve the same thing.

This being said, the saved-by-grace person in me would rather we honor the document written EARLIER than the Constitution and let GOD decide on abortion.

If someone kills a pregnant woman here, they are charged with the death of the unborn child, too-as they should be-an acknowledgement that the unborn child is a person with the right to the life God has given him/her.
