Climate change is making giant heat waves crawl slower across the globe and they are baking more people for a longer time with higher temperatures over larger areas, a new study finds.
Since 1979, global heat waves are moving 20% more slowly — meaning more people stay hot longer — and they are happening 67% more often, according to a study in Friday’s Science Advances. The study found the highest temperatures in the heat waves are warmer than 40 years ago and the area under a heat dome is larger.
Studies have shown heat waves worsening before, but this one is more comprehensive and concentrates heavily on not just temperature and area, but how long the high heat lasts and how it travels across continents, said study co-authors and climate scientists Wei Zhang of Utah State University and Gabriel Lau of Princeton University.
“This paper sends a clear warning that climate change makes heat waves yet more dangerous in more ways than one,” said Lawrence Berkeley National Lab climate scientist Michael Wehner, who wasn’t part of the research.
Just like in an oven, the longer the heat lasts, the more something cooks. In this case it’s people, the co-authors said.

Why has “climate change” become synonymous with man-caused climate change, without any justification? They don’t even try to establish the connection because they know they can’t without resorting to the consensus or a post hoc argument, which are weak and unpersuasive. They get away with the promoting the false narrative that only human activity affects climate. They should be called out on this every time they try it.

Luckily, we have air conditioners. Oh, wait, I’m sure they’re next on the cutting block to be regulated out of existence. And if you can afford the power to run one until that happens.

It’s excellent. Scientists note temperature gauges were once on the outskirts of cities, but as cities grew they now are positioned within the urban core and subject to the heat island effect. Relocate those temp gauges and we find virtually zero warming.
Also shown is a good demo of the sun’s role in the creation of clouds, which greatly affects temperatures.
And..our now dangerously low level of CO2 as it pertains to plant (food) growth.

Why 1979 ?
That dreaded and predicted Ice Age of the early 70’s never happened and busy-body scientists had to concoct a reason.
Coincidentally, ‘79 was the first year of satellite technology which enabled accurate temp. recording.
Thank our lucky stars we live at a time of moderate climate as we slowly exit the ICE AGE.

A few years back ANOTHER study showed that >90% of the recording thermometers used in every global warming study were invalid and biased towards recording higher temps that appropriate for use. They are not supposed to be within 300 yards of anything that would block movement of air — like a wall, trees, or buildings. But, they are — so, they record high temps.
The climate hype is kicking into the next gear among the global corporate media. I’m guessing they plan to use it as an election issue
