Former President Donald Trump is expected to spend much of the next two months in New York City while he attends his criminal trial, a development that has forced him to reimagine political campaigning to match his unprecedented circumstances.
Since the trial began earlier this month, he has begun campaigning throughout New York City with the intensity of a competitive mayoral candidate, despite the Big Apple’s status as a Democratic bastion.
Pinning him to his hometown is Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who has charged Trump with 34 counts of falsifying business records in connection with a 2016 payment Trump’s then-attorney, Michael Cohen, made to Stormy Daniels. Trump has pleaded not guilty and contends that the case is part of a broader political witch hunt designed to derail his 2024 presidential campaign.
Judge Juan Merchan has ordered that the former president attend the trial and previously rejected his request to attend oral arguments at the Supreme Court on Thursday over his claims to enjoy presidential immunity in an unrelated case.
Merchan has further imposed a gag order on the former president, limiting Trump’s ability to publicly discuss key figures in the trial. Bragg has also asked Merchan to hold Trump in contempt over alleged violations of the order, though the judge deferred a decision this week.
Trump, for his part, has tied both the order and the trial to the alleged “witch hunt,” saying "[t]he Gag Order imposed on me, a political candidate running for the highest office in the land, is totally UNCONSTITUTIONAL! Nothing like this has ever happened before.”

Well, with the Dems trying to allow felons to vote, if Merchan throws Trump in jail, he will undoubtedly get all of the convict vote plus more of the minority vote once he starts campaigning in jail.

I agree. However I will say this: if there is any year it has even a ghost of a chance, it's this one. Crime rampant and aggressively not punished. Homelessness going nuts because of the illegals. Cost of living skyrocketing. NYC leadership laughable. And Trump is a NYC icon, he's one of the most well known New Yorkers of the last century and everyone in NYC basically grew up with Trump on their TV screens and newspaper headlines. I mean, when will circumstances ever so favor a republican having a chance to upset the apple cart?

I remember Rush and others talking about the real President Trump. He sleeps 4-5 hours a night. He never drinks, never smokes, and he works, works, works. A few days after the November 2016 election, he was already having meetings. When he met with the CEO of Caterpillar, the democRATS/Drive-By Media had a fit. Hussein had done a photo op with Caterpillar previously. Caterpillar soon realized Hussein, like most democRATS, hate all private businesses.
President Trump knows construction. He had some of his children actually driving caterpillars, nail guns, etc, to really know what it takes.
In the past, we celebrated titans of industry. Most of the country still does. Just look at the President Trump rallies. THOUSANDS inside a venue, and even THOUSANDS MORE outside, just to be among regular, like-minded Patriots.
The only way Hussein could get thousands in a stadium was to piggyback on a rock concert. After the band played, the Drive-By Media would take photos while Hussein spoke. If you were to look closely, most of the people were packing up to leave.

It’s not just Trump being competitive in Néw York and New Jersey it’s the down the ballot races as well there are some very competitive districts out there if Trump voters come out in force like they may just do.
Merchan isn’t going to do that he’s partisan but he’s not stupid. To give Trump exactly what he wants having him restricted to Trump tower where he can’t do anything would be exactly what Donald wants.
