Letter Writing Campaign To Military Personnel
Tom's Head ^ | 10/12/01 (The real Columbus Day) | Tom Buchanan

I had a thought about going to my children's school and organizing letter writing campaign to military personnel defending our country, our freedom and our way of life. Homeschoolers could really take the charge on this one.

The trouble is I cannot seem to find information on how to obtain names and addresses for our servicemen and women. I searched with limited time I had available without any results. I knoiw this information is out there, some organization has it. Can any Freepers point me in the right direction?

I thought that perhaps we Freepers could take on the task of organizing a letter writing campaign in the schools in our individual neighborhoods. Perhaps there are some Freepers sitting at their keyboards wondering how they can contribute to our 'War' effort. One way is to boost the morale of our fine service personnel as they do their best to keep the evil away from our shores. This will not be a wham bam mission like a decade ago. It will be long and sometimes lonely for our men and women. We must not let them be forgotten!

We need a script to present to the school principals. We also need a link to where we can gather names and addresses.

I just thought this would be something positive we can do and maybe sneak in a word or two about what they are fighting for, a mini civics lesson on the Constitution.

It would be great to have FreeRepublic in on this, but I will be doing this in Loveland, Colorado. Won't you join me in your community?

What an excellent idea. I've been trying to organize some kind of project for my Cub Scout Den, based around citizenship etc. and I think your idea is something the boys would really enjoy. We're from Baltimore, MD, consider us in.

I'll see if I can find any contacts for this, I have a relative now activated and gone.

FRegards! GBA

A good place to start would be to contact the Base/Post Chaplains office or USO Office on your nearest base. You might find a number for them in the Blue Section of your phonebook under US Govt, if you have a base in your community. Mail is always appreciated by lonely service people, especially some away from home for the first time
