Further, I heard the flight originated in Boston. It's now evening. The news on tv isn't revealing anything new since dinnertime. I did notice that the plane did not incinerate all the passengers but an elderly couple is missing from their shell of a home.

Nope. I know for a fact that it was a DC10 as I was working for American Airlines at that time. Also, a neighbor of mine was one of the investigators on that crash. He told me that the reason that the engine dropped of was because there were some bolts that needed to help keep the engine attached to the wing. American (in order to save labor and parts cost) refused to put them on and the FAA while being aware of this, let them get away with it.

I do believe that the two destroyers USS MADDOX and C. TURNER JOY did encroach on North Vietnams territorial waters to provoke something. Considering who was in power in the Oval Office those days, anything is possible.

That being said, I still don't think this aircrash is terrorist activity. It doesn't make any sense. Why only a small residential area? And this crap about stinger missiles ... is just that ... CRAP!

The point being, there are entirely too many fear mongers running amok on here, whipping people into a frenzy. When they succeed, they allow the terrorists to win.

I refuse to buy into fear. I will live my life on my terms, no one else's. I will wait patiently for the facts to emerge, then if it is proven to be terrorist related, then I will allow myself to be angry. This one appears to be an aircraft that just had a catastrophic mechanical failure. Many things will make an engine catch fire and explode, not just a bomb.

THERE ARE MORE THAN A FEW PRAYER RUGS IN THE LOCKER ROOMS OF THE AIRLINE EMPLOYEES TOO!

Just a few days ago, I posted on another thread about an airline mechanic that called into a Christian talkshow I was listening to. He was up in arms because more than half of his co-workers were ME's...barely spoke any English...and there was no supervision or security in their bay area. The ME's had full run of the interior and exterior of all the aircraft being serviced. He didn't say what airport he worked at, but acknowledged it was one of our biggest. Isn't this just TOO special?

You referenced a mechanical problem. I grew up in a home where my father was an aircraft engineer (lead mechanic). The pilots and mechanics go through stringent check lists before taking to the skies before every flight. If anything happens to the plane, the mechanics get the penalty. So, you can bet that they had their bases covered before the plane left the ground.

My bet is that a small missile launcher took it from the ground. I became convinced that TWA800 was hit by a small missile launcher when I witnessed the Taliban showing off their "personal missile launchers" before the war escalated. I can see how easily it would be to bring those into this country. They could have been transported by car, van, boat or small plane.

If I saw pieces of a plane falling off of a flying plane, I could figure out if it was a wing that had fallen off, but I have no idea what an airplane engine looks like.

Since the wing is a fuel tank it would probably explode in many pieces and be hard to identify, an engine on the other hand probably gets expelled intact for the most part, at least until it hits the ground.

Oh, Lordy. Bill Mulcahy is one of THE original tinfoil hatters. He now lives in a different part of New York, but here's the scoop from an Avsig Sysop who knew him quite well:

"Bill Mulcahy is a non-pilot who lived in Rockaway (Rockaway Beach?). He was convinced (and incensed) that the the FAA purposely arranged JFK and LaGuardia arrival and departure patterns to dump the noise over working class communities such as his for the benefit of more affluent areas.

He showed up here in Avsig in '93 and '94 seeking information for his crusade to force 10pm-7am curfews at JFK & LaGuardia. He allegedly helped organize the neighborhoods in this endeavor, including the creation of public access TV shows presenting his case. During the process he discovered the JFK bird risk and went a bit off the deep end trying to make the case for closing runway 22R based on that issue. He was so repetitively personally abusive in all his harangues here that he was finally excluded from the forum.

FYI.

The part that doesn't make sense is why the vertical stabilizer was pulled from Jamaica Bay while the failed engine was found much further along the flight path on dry land? If the crash was due to the engine separating it would be the first thing to hit the ground. I'm beginning to believe something (explosion?) damaged the fuselage and debris caused the engine to explode and separate.

I thought there was a report that part of the wing also sheared away. It would make me wonder if there was an Islamic maintenance man messing round with the under side of the wing. They have not been fired from their jobs yet have they?

"...but if the sheeple think it was terrorists..."
==============================================

I'm figuring if that were to be allowed to happen.....the Airline Industry, as we have today, would become a page of airborne history....

....just a thought....

"THERE ARE PEOPLE ON THE RAMP, WHO ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE IN THE USA"

You are Correct, Sir.

That was proven, about 3 weeks ago, by the local CBS afiliate rite cheer in Moosick City, Tennessee...

The Fact that everyone had such Easy Access to/thru the gate (complete with sleeping guard) assured that no one will ever be able to trust the Airline Industry - as it is at this time....

Light takes approximately 10 milliseconds to travel 20 miles.

Back to physics 101! Light takes approximately 107 microseconds to travel 20 miles. So it is 100x more instantaneous (or the speed is 100x more infinite) than you thought ...

I too hold and A&P and work for An Airline. We have to most diverse workplace on the planet. Say one thing that offends somebody, and find one's self on the outside looking in. I get along treat with everyone, but if I could - I would hang the bastard who decided how to define "security" in our industry.

If there's not a saboteur at JFK and a cover-up in the US Government investigations of TWA800, Egypt Air, Swissair, and now AA; I'll kiss your ass on main street!

...here ya go Airbus, the leader in air disaster!!!

Um, that list is ALPHABETIC. The Airbus 300 is first on the list because it's first alphabetically, not because it's 'first' in air disasters.
