"Thank you!" children shouted, running after Americans visiting the dusty camp. "Thank you," an old man said, pressing a hand to his heart. "Thanks to the United Front and United States, the people of Afghanistan will be free," said Mohammed Rasoull, from the northern city of Kunduz.

The kind of thing you won't hear from Dan Rather.

Still, the "attrocities" committed by the N.A. pale when compared to the Taleban. The only reason we don't know of specific Taleban attrocities is they didn't allow camaras.

"Western journalists also saw Northern Alliance forces shooting Taliban soldiers point blank and looting the bodies and abandoned bunkers of shoes, money and supplies north of Kabul."

Bible says eye for eye, tooth for a tooth. When will we get the Mullah Omar's other eye?

I don't understand the desire by our goverment to stabilize these regions. Ther less stable they sre the less they are able to amass the assets or political will to exert force on others??????????? Please explain!

"The vengeful attacks by rebel leaders, many of them criticized for human-rights violations in previous Afghan conflicts, have raised fears among U.S. coalition partners that Afghanistan could descend into chaos and warfare..."

School children need to start being taught how to see this sort of opinion inside what is supposed to be a document of fact. Did the author call Blair on the phone and talk to him??? Did he call any of the coalition partners and talk to them? Hmmmmm? Ok, if so, where are the names and quotes?

This is nothing but the author voicing an unfounded opinion. At best, it is taken from a quote in another article where that author voiced his own opinion. Lack of news feeding on lack of news becomes unfounded opionion stated as fact.

One thing that is already spinning out of control, is the anti-war,pro-terrorist, liberal media coverage.

Looks like they're specifically targeting Al-Qaeda, Chechen and Pakistani volunteers. Those rats should definitely be executed on the spot without a moment's hesitation.

I doubt they're killing local conscripts. All locals would need to do is shave and blend into the woodwork.

'"According to reports [in Mazar-e-Sharif], there is a lot of pillaging as well as civilian kidnapping, armed men out of control and fighting in the streets," said Christiane Berthiaume, spokeswoman for the World Food Program.

Western journalists also saw Northern Alliance forces shooting Taliban soldiers point blank and looting the bodies and abandoned bunkers of shoes, money and supplies north of Kabul.'

Hey, they gotta get paid somehow! And as far as the executions go, thats the chance the Towel-e-bans took during wartime. They paid their money, their chances, and lost.

Mad dogs and rats captured in traps are not given trials, or even a hearing. A club or small-caliber bullet to the side of the head. Further mutilation if the corpse continues to move. Head put on a pike and paraded about town as an example to others who believe crazed oppression of fellow men is an acceptable alternative lifestyle.

I just don't see a downside in this situation.

You took the words right out of my mouth. Why is the situation "spiraling out of control" when the fanatics we need to exterminate are being executed by the very people THEY were executing last week? The Northern Alliance has very good reasons to hate these people, who have shown no mercy to their foes and only recently assassinated Massoud.

It's never a pretty sight when a lynch mob of former victims turns on their oppressors, but these guys surely asked for it.

Let me understand this -- I watched Behind the Veil and I saw, with my own eyes, the scenes of atrocities committed by the Taliban where in addition to murdering all the men in a village, they also skinned a 14-year old boy alive before they killed him. It was one of the most horrific things I'd ever see. This in addition to the public executions of men and women for no reason whatsoever.

So -- the victims' families are supposed to "forget" about this, and to not seek revenge? Ridiculous -- let the Taliban reap what they sowed.

Good news, it needs to be done. At least that's one thing to say in favor of using proxy fighting forces to do our dirty work; the work gets done.

The homes they had lived in for months, or even years, soon became shells of low mud walls, sticks or woven grass. "There were nine of us here," one woman said, surrounded by some of her seven children. "At night, there was no room to sleep, so the adults slept outside in the cold. We are very happy to be going home."

Message to peaceniks in the USA: Tell the people described in the above paragraph how bad and wrong the war is.

The folks on a leftie list that I monitor are already outraged, outraged, I say, about the people who have been killed after the take over at Kabul. As America-haters, that dercry us allowing this to happen and hold us responsible. I believe that one of them might qualify for the Nobel Peace Prize with a dynamic organization to prevent tossing cigarette butts on the beautiful Afghanistani landscape.

One positive aspect of the entire Holocaust has been to make it so much easier to separate the hard core America-haters who hide behind so many other issues like, globalization, environmentalism, and so on, and the very few who actually believe in those splinter concepts. The presstitutes who won't wear the flag; they are America-haters, not free speech advocates.
