Outrage from New Hampshire!
Our friends at sister site PoliticsNH.com brought this offensive political cartoon to our attention. It was drawn by Mike Mariand and printed in today's Concord Monitor.
We don't have a problem with those who criticize President George W. Bush. In fact, we've taken a few shots at the Commander-in-Chief ourselves, when we thought he deserved rebuke. But to use the horrific September 11th terrorist attack on the World Trade Center that killed almost 3,000 innocent civilians to make a political point about the president's budget is disgusting. If Mariand were drawing cartoons in 1941, would he have drawn President Franklin Roosevelt piloting one of the Japanese fighter planes that participated in the sneak attack on Pearl Harbor to convey his opinion on an issue of the day?
If you would like to tell the folks at the Concord Monitor what you think about their political cartoon, we urge you to e-mail Mark Travis, the editorial page editor at mtravis@cmonitor.com. (2/8)

.....our political cartoons are phunnie!.....
"You sick SOB!!!!!!!!!!!"
Mr. Travis,
Have you no shame?
I read once years ago that newspaper editors measure the effectiveness of their columnists and editorials based upon the size of the reaction that the works generate from the readership.
I pray that your only intent in running this piece-of-crap cartoon was to generate friction, static, and perhaps some national exposure for your pissant little rag, for if you truly failed to see the evil inherent in this cartoon and did not realize how patently offensive it is, then you sir are an empty soulless shell of a man.
You should consider a new career. I'd gladly reccommend you for any minimum wage job somewhere outside of the area, however I would do so only for a position that did not involve handling any food, sharp objects, electrical equipment or heavy objects, for you clearly can not be trusted with even that level of responsibility.
You are a fool and an idiot.

The link is to their contact page. They would probably like to know what dogs their up-valley rivals are.
This is the paper that made poor Ed Muskie burst into tears on the steps of the NH statehouse.
This book is available for Freepers to post reviews of at Amazon!

Already done earlier today, before lunchtime, and to the right folks at WorldNetDaily as well.
And just for fun, I also e.mailed the White House Press Office and asked for a statement.

archy, You Rock!!!
If you continue to financially support your local newspaper that makes "light" of the most horrific act against innocent US citizens in the history of this great nation, then you become part of the problem.
Let your disgust of your paper, and its editorial board, know your feelings by discontinuing your financial support. I'm certain that you can more effectively solicit customer support by advertising your message in alternative outlets. Your customers will fully support your decision, and congratulate you on your stand.
You can make a difference
regards
