Surely, please tell me surely, that cartoonist could have found another example to illustrate his/her opinion of the Bush budget and its impact on Social Security.

Though even with a more appropriate and less emotional symbol, the idea that the President's budget somehow will crush Social Security is outrageous enough.

But the World Trade Center?

I have had my attention brought to a cartoon, reportedly in your publication. This cartoon shows our President flying an airplane into two towers, labeled "Social Security".

If this cartoon was truly published, the employees who approved it should resign immediately in disgrace.

The most appalling act of terrorism ever carried out on our soil happened on September 11, 2001, and this cartoon and by extension your publication are equating President Bush with the murderers.

Never mind that his efforts to save Social Security are being aided by "Mr. Social Security" Democratic Senator Patrick Moynihan--the mere fact that you would equate an attempt to fix Social Security and our President with the hate-filled behavior of the terrorists is reprehensible.

If you've done this to drawn attention to yourself, you've succeeded. Perhaps if your readership plummets, your boss will give you some attention and fire you. I hope so.

Your cartoon depicting President Bush flying into a replica of the WTC was in poor taste. I understand that Political Cartoonists lampoon current events in order to hammer home a point, but using a disaster that claimed the lives of 3,000 people as the butt end of a polical "joke" is inexcusable.

I suggest you get a new cartoonist..and an editor for that matter.....
