An Eagle Scout who was mistaken for a bank robber and shot in the face by an FBI agent in Pasadena on Friday remained in serious but stable condition at Maryland Shock Trauma Center last night.

Joseph Charles Schultz, 20, was shot at close range about 6 p.m. Friday when FBI agents searching for a bank robbery suspect pulled over his girlfriend's car.

Schultz, who lives in the 7900 block of Seabreeze Drive in Orchard Beach in Anne Arundel County and works with fiber optics for a local medical company, has no connection to the bank robbery, officials said.

Very well said.

I had a business meeting this morning. Had to catch up as I was away for a few weeks. So on the way back from it I hear on the car radio that the agent who pulled the trigger will not be fired or face any charges but will be transfered to a slot where he is unlikely to be involved in future shootings. This tells me that they know this agent committed a crime and they are covering his butt. On another thread I saw a post where there was news footage on a local staion of the Famous But Incompetent agents laughing and joking after this incident. They should take a public relations course from someone with a much better sense of how to engender public fondness. leona Helmsley is the first one who comes to mind for that job but I do not think they could handle such a massive improvement in projecting a public image.

I also read how they left this wounded kid on the street, handcuffed screaming in pain for an hour. Not only do they shoot the wrong person they do not even call an ambulance immediately. If a suspect is injured by an officer then medical attention is given to the suspect. If it is a serious injurythen an ambulance and paramedics are called. This kid was not even a suspect. They knew the name of the suspect and it did not match the kid's. If collateral damage is so unimportant to them why didn't they just call in a B52 strike on the area of town then go in after with DNA sampling kits to make sure that the suspect was one of the dead.

Oh God! What a heartbreaking story.

Where is the outrage? - Why, even here on FR, are so many willing to run cover for these thugs?

You're absolutely right about that.

Well today on the radio I heard that they were going to transfer the shooter to a position where he will be unlikely to be involved in further shootings. still no name. Still collects his/her paycheck. Still is an FBI agent.

How long before the next promotion and transfer back to supervisory position is really anybody's guess but IMHO it will happen.

Some of the decent agents might start leaking lump data.

Imagine if someone with a CCW had seen these cowboys coming, figured it was a carjacking or "wrong ID Mafia hit" and pulled out his pistol and shot one or both of them?

Do you think the "reasonable fear for his safety" clause would apply to that civilian?

"In a completely unrelated issue, why is he dating a child?"

Ah, you have provided the clue as to why he was shot. Dating a 16 year old child! Of course it all makes since now, he deserved it! /sarcasm

There's a big turd in the punchbowl and it's indeed called FBI ! FiBi's and their handlers need an overhaul from the TOP down IMHO........

Glad to hear your getting back to work. I'm saving up for a new boat, thinking ketch, about a 50 footer, small enough to singlehand when I need to and big enough for friends to go sailing with me ! Bout a year down the line (soonest) .

Travis is making me think about building my own. I'm looking into that, doing the research etc etc...... Ideas welcomed of course.

Stay Safe !

If the situation you describe had occured he would be facing Federal charges for murder of a Federal Agent in the performance of his duty. If he ever lived to see a courtroom.

>Black men have become White Men. White men have become titmice.

[laughs] No, everyone is an ugly hunchback. But don't worry. Even though Esmeralda didn't (and couldn't) feel love for Quasimodo, that didn't affect either Quasimodo's love, or his ability to love.

I wouldn't be afraid of gun crazy cops, if I were you. In the 60s, the loser street scum used to try and demonize law enforcement, too. Nobody took them seriously back then and they had pretty hippie girls wearing sexy peasant blouses cursing at the cops. The people demonizing the cops today are just Frollo's with an agenda and no Esmeralda's in sight.

"Could be a leftover from the previous administration (& we all know who that is!)... ...committed this atrocity to embarrass our current FBI director & President. Well.....couldn't it!"

Sure, a Democrat FBI agent attempts to kill an innocent civilian in order to embarrass the Republican administration? sheesh.... You gotta admit thats a stretch. If this is a good plan, why don't all Democrat FBI agents just go on a shooting spree? That would be very embarrassing,,,,,, for Democrats.

"Whatever happened to .....trust but verify!"

We would love to hear and verify the agents side of this guenevere, but he's not talking, in fact the FBI won't even tell us his name.

Are these the people you would have us trust guenevere? My anger is not knee jerk, but perfectly justifiable against a law enforcement agency that apparently believes it can operate above the law.

Thats what the FBI is counting on. Funny thing though, they will never get around to telling you, and you will forget all about it in a day or two.

Hey Travis,
Be sure you include some wheels with those plans for that schooner Squantos wants to build. The only Maritime Environment I can think of around Squantos place is the water in his canteen.

Squantos, good luck on your prairie schooner, might I suggest you add a delta wing to it as well. With the winds you get up there you might be able to get to the widget factory faster by air.
