While forces where deployed in Viet Nam the rest of the world was guarded by everyone else.
Deaths and causulties would have been much higher without the support of our military around the globe.

As a Gulf War veteran and a sometime student of military history, I thank each and every one of you Vietnam veterans for going, for giving, for dying, and for living. The turmoil imposed on you is a shameful record of America's failures to protect and honor its own. But for those of us who have eyes to see and hearts to feel, we know you are the truest American heroes - just for having answered your call to duty.
