Bush is pushing Congress to pass a Section 245(i) extension before he goes to Mexico on March 22. Section 245(i) is rolling amnesty. Mexico is demanding amnesty as part of its goal of occupation and conquest of parts of America.

 

WHAT IS Section 245(i)?
Section 245(i) would restore a provision allowing illegal aliens to pay the INS $1000 and remain in the country, subject to only a cursory U.S. police record check, before receiving green cards. If Section 245(i) is not revived, these illegal aliens will instead be required to return to their country of origin where their application for an immigration visa would be subject to a far more vigorous home country background investigation. The legal procedure for entering the U.S. involves a background check performed in the country of origin to ensure that the immigrant or visitor does not pose a security threat. These laws were put in place for the precise reason of protecting our homeland and preventing a national tragedy like September 11th.

What message does this send to all who enter legally and go through the process legit?

If they are here, already, then they should applaud this bill as well. The Object of lowering the threshold of scrutiny on this particular brand of illegals is to Clear out the INS backlog created by the previous administration.

Simply put, in deference to your gender, Which would you rather have the INS doing, (Choose one only)
A.Expanding to chase down those that are already here, and closely screen those coming in.
B. Staying the same size, and screwing around with people that may be illegal but have demonstrable ties to the community (Families/Jobs) and not being as effective screening those coming in.
C. Clearing the previous administrations backlog,and concentrating on those coming in; going forward.

You talking about an amnesty for wrongful conduct by the govt vis a vis an amnesty for wrongful conduct on the part of individuals. The two situations are far from comparable. Illegal entry into the United State is wrongful conduct on the part of an individual against this country. Its a danger and even people granted permission to enter this country by our government have been revealed to be dangerous. The last thing we need is to relax supervision over aliens in the U.S. If anything we need to watch all foreigners here with the greatest possible vigilance. Just think 9-11 to understand why we can no longer afford an amnesty for illegal aliens period.

He came on a visa. It expired. That makes him an illegal immigrant. He is paying for residency paperwork. He's trying to be part of the system-not trying to hide from it. His wife is already part of the system. He is trying to do the right thing. Should we kick him out just because the INS is too slow? We let him in in the first place. It was legal. This isn't your stereotypical immigrant sneaking in a bus
