The "chicano" movement is a thing of the past. Their left-labor coalitions are falling apart. The defeat of Villaraigosa was the last hurrah for Aztlan, which most of the people who voted for him didn't believe in anyway (before the election, 50 percent of hispanics said he was too liberal, yet 80 percent voted for him because, hey, he's one of them. That will change).
The future of hispanic politics in this country is with Democrats like LA city atty Rocky Delgadillo (who won in the same election), who wants to get hispanics off food stamps and into jobs, and Republicans like Henry Bonilla.
Meanwhile, the latest gallup poll has 45 percent of hispanics saying they might vote for whatever Republican is running in their Congressional district this year (usually each party gets in the low 30's when asked who they will vote for.) That's a miraculous number, when you consider that so many come from districts where there are no credible GOP candidates.
The cultural issues, like homosexuality and abortion, will be critical to bringing hispanics along. Hopefully, Republicans will stop being so afraid to pick up the cultural issues. That, more than immigration politics, is losing hispanics for the GOP.

Pleasure chatting with you. I'll ignore that Archie Bunker wanna'-be because life is too short and too precious and too valuable to talk to rude people. You sound just like the Meathead.

We'll see but I live in a Hispanic Area and the Sanchez bumper stickers and posters are being put up all over ---there is great enthusiasm for this liberal crook.Same here in Houston. The people arguing with you over this don't know squat because they are not here, lol. They seem to love illegals so much, why don't they invite them to Virginia, etc. to live? LOL

BS. Mexicans have always voted for democrats. Two quick reasons I can think of. They are more likely to be receipients of social programs, welfare. They also tend to be less educated, therefore less informed and vote more on emotion than reason. Falling easily into the democratic trap of scare tactic lies.

I love it when people proclaim their beliefs then demand that you believe the same or you're not "really a conservative".ROFLOL, that is precisely what you are doing! Fitz has more understanding of this issue than you and the other illegal-lovers on this thread combined.

Anybody see the thread on this subject a couple of days ago? One response was showing LAPD's 10 most wanted list with pictures. Hate to tell you Dane, but 9 out of 10 were Hispanic.

Indeed Perry does not seem to be truly in charge, but he could wake up and come through - so we pray. Praying that he is stirred up and that we don't end up with a Hispanic governor only because I believe it is good for our nation to still elect leadership that represents the American people, firstly.

I know plenty of hispanic Republican Texans. They won't switch if we don't insult them.Insults should be irrelevant. What kind of person changes their entire belief system around simply because the feel insulted?
It's like, "oh well, I used to be against the re-distribution of wealth and all sorts of Marxist PC social engenieering that was intent on destroying America, but you know what? I feel I was "insulted", so now I'm for all those things.
Please!

Texas will always be Texas. Hispanic people who assimilate will always be good citizens/residents; those from any given nationality who want to import their culture will always find the natural opposition: we are America and we live and do business as Americans. A shame that because we are greedy and want to use people to our cheap labor, we end up having an invasion into our culture. God bless Americ and foreigners who want to attach to her in good will.

"Any immigration is going to result in more socialism."
On the contrary. A welfare state will only survive an ethnically homogenous society. Take a look at the Scandinavian countries, for example. They have traditionally had very homogenous societies with massive social spending. However, as the number of immigrants has grown so has the opposition to wealth redistribution. The bottom line is these kind of social contracts are only possible if there's a very real sense of communality in the society.
In the US the political right, especially the Republican party, has been playing with the ethnic card against the welfare state for well over 30 years. It has worked quite well, also.

Im not sure what you mean. Tell me more.

Someone made a big deal out of most medal of honor recipients being hispanic. I was wondering what the point was. So, I stated that 8 out of the 10 people featured on LAPD's 10 most wanted were hispanic. My point was..so what.

Well, thats a thought! Yes, GW knows that he can put forth a huge effort, and get only a few black and brown votes for the GOP. Nothing is going to change in that regard. So, his efforts to give amnesty to illegal aliens has to be based upon some other reasoning. I will say that hes working to further the New World Order agenda.
To: Truthsayer20
Yeah, that's why socialism has grown since 1960. Furthermore, Scandanavian countries weren't as socialist back then. I said that Socialism seems to be growing worldwide, but if you look at voting, or opinions, European-American ie: White Americans, are by far the most Conservative people on the planet. Definitely among the Western Nations.

"I think the GOP is much too lackadaisical in TX for its own good. "
Look, do you want to know what it will take to win the Chicano vote? 1. Permit unlimited and unrestricted immigration. 2. Welfare for life. 3. Turn over as many states to Mexican rule as they wish.
To: Don Myers
Shshh. Don't give them any ideas.
