GPS UNIT FOUND IN AFGAN CAVE BELONGED TO U.S. SOLDIER KILLED IN SOMALIA
ABC RADIO NEWS

Posted on 03/20/2002 10:04:22 AM PST by 1Old Pro

This announcement could tie Al Quada terrorists to Somalian war lords. Spokesman says it also could have been purchased on Black market (I find the later more unlikely).

Details to follow

>>>Aspin<<<
>>>That's the name I forgot. I believe he prevented resupply in Somalia....tanks etc.<<<

That would be Les Aspin - Clinton's first Sec'ty of Defense. To believe that he carried the same title as Don Rumsfeld streches credulity!!

I know that one should never speak ill of the dead - Aspin died of a heart attack in about 1995 or so - but the guy wasn't fit to carry Rumsfeld's toilet paper! He was an indecisive, think tank type that had absolutely no rapport with the troops he was suppose to lead.

His lack of tactical experience and continual caving to the "this is a country building/peace keeping mission so don't upset the natives with big mean ol' tanks" types in the Clinton admin. eventually got 18 fine guys killed. This was after repeated requests by local commanders for armor - Aspin vetoed shippment!

It would only be poetic justice if the heart-attack that killed him was the result of self induced stress over his lack of vision.

I think that if we simply put the people to death of every country involved with Al-Quaeda our problems would be over. The bible talks of putting entire nations to the sword, and so does the Quran. I say we start abiding by their rules, and sytematically eliminate our threats, and future enemies through superior firepower. It's an inevitability that we will eventually be attacked again by one of these skunk-F-ing nations. Why should we let it happen again?

I wish I could take credit, but I didn't do that post. That was someone else. Wish I had. Thank them, not me. God bless those fallen for those of us who didn't have to sacrifice. God keep those valiant men close and dear as they sacrificed themselves with honor.

If they wanted to drag Somalia into the war... why did they later backtrack about the GPS device? Considering they control all of the information, why would they admit they were wrong (if they were attempting to deceive from the very beginning)?

If they were setting it up on purpose, as a conspiracy, don't you think they would have CLAIMED to have found the GPS product that DID exist at the time we went into Somalia?

No, I mean don't you think they would have claimed to have found the specific make of the device that existed at the time? If this whole thing was a setup and a conspiracy, why would they screw up the simplest detail--the device itself? The Pentagon cannot be simultaneously an evil puppetmaster and an incompetent boob.

If they just invented the whole thing out of thin air, why would they have made that mistake?

And why wouldn't they simply first check the freakin' serial number before releasing such a stupid accusation?

Because they got over-excited. It was an honest mistake.

Look, it's obvious it was a mistake and nothing more sinister. If this was something more sinister, they would have never admitted it was a mistake. Case closed.

The point was that the US military under Clinton failed to supply appropriate gear for our armed forces.
