WASHINGTON [MENL] -- Saudi Arabia has prepared for the deployment of intermediate-range ballistic missiles in its southern desert.
A Washington-based defense group reports that Saudi Arabia has built facilities for intermediate-range missiles in a newly-constructed complex north of the desert oasis of Al Sulayyil. The complex is said to contain two missile launch areas six kilometers apart as well as a huge support system.
Global Security, the defense group, released photographs taken three weeks ago from the Ikonos satellite of what were identified as two missile bases and a complex of 33 buildings, eight of them capable of storing Chinese CSS-2 missiles. The photographs, also published in the Israeli newspaper Yediot Aharonot, identified the missiles as the CSS-2, reported to have a range of between 2,500 and 3,500 kilometers. The missile, 24 meters long, is capable of carrying a nonconventional warhead.
The organization, which analyzed the satellite photographs said the missile launch complex located 27 kilometers north of Al Sulayyil consists of a site support area and two launch areas. Global Security said the support area was "probably used in the construction and ongoing maintenance of both launch sites."

All I want is to see a glass-covered parking lot where the "empty quater" called Saudi Arabia used to exist.
Assuming the things don't have some kind of minimum range, who could the Saudis possibly want to shoot to the south of them? Are they worried about an attack from Djibouti?
I wish they would just nuke the arab world. The world will be a much safer place when there are fewer ragheads in it.
and here it is!
WTF???
It would have to be very small nukes. Can't disrupt that A-Rab oil flow now can we?
We're screwed. We side with Isreal against the Palestinians, we get slagged by the Muslim world and generate more hatred against us. If we tell the Isrealis to back off or somehow manage to broker a peace deal, the Arab world still has Isreal to deflect attention for its own shortcomings, the Palestinians and Terrorist groups are still around to cause trouble, and more hatred is generated against us. If we go in and clean house in all of the Middle East(which we aren't equipped to do and we won't get any support from those gutless wonders in Europe), our name is mud and our precious oil supply gets disrupted big time.
Basically, we're screwed no matter what we do. So I say do nothing. If we're going to be screwed in any case, why make an effort? Let them fight it out and Isreal will kick everyone's ass again. Won't happen though...
BTW, Isreal may have nukes but what's the point of using one when the fallout it'd produce will in all likelihood drift right back on top of them? All the targets are too close (except Iraq and Iran)....
LIKE YOU DIDNT KNOW IT WOULD HAPPEN?
