In an unprecedented attack in an Omani paper, journalist Shawqi Hafiz wrote of those who like their matzos “baked withuman blood.” Eating Jewish matzos with Christian blood, he explained, was the best way to restore health and rejuvenate the sexual lust of old men. To support his claim, Hafiz referred to Najib al-Kilani’s book Blood for the Matzah of Zion -- a tract based on the 1840 blood libel in Damascus, in which the Jewish community was accused of murdering Franciscan Brother Toma in order to bake their matzos with his blood. Israel submitted an official protest to the Sultan of Oman (al-Watan, 19 April; Ma`ariv, 5 May). Al-Barghuti’s article (mentioned above) charged that the blood of the Iraqis, descendants of the Canaanites, was used in the matzah of Israel, which was “kneaded with American weaponry and the missiles of hatred pointed at both Muslim and Christian Arabs” (al-Usbu` al-Adabi, 27 Nov.).

I know this isn't the thread for it, but did you hear a mob stormed the American Embassy in Bahrain today? We have a Naval and Air Base there. Installations critical to our security. I know Free Republic doesn't dwell on American interests and American lives much anymore but I thought I would bring it up in case anyone is interested.

Right about the direction of this forum. It comes down to who is framing the dialogue. This falls in the same category of the telling of the genocidal practices of the Nazis. I doubt that more than 20% of Americans under the age of thirty know how many died in the camps just for being members of some ethnic or religious group. After the holocaust lessons in school my own children thought the number was 6 million. It's like the other six million murders never happened or just don't count.

Arabic press?? Boy, do we have Arabic press :)). Ol' Kudz has been bragging how it worked in one of those screech-factories. Ostensibly banned now but look for names like Patria One.

There are also the huge new fields at the edge of the Empty Quarter called Shaybah... made public a couple of years ago.

The Ghawar fields are my hometown and this is new reserves in the Ghawar fields. The existing wells that were drilled about the time I was in first grade are still producing and that has been (ahem) 50 years... I don't see us running out of oil.

In time our technology may change so we get more benefit out of less petroleum. They no longer flare off the gas. Sulphur and urea are separated but now they are utilized. KSA sells thousands of tons of urea fertilizer to third world countries... and both Yanbu and Jubail were built to develop and manufacture other petroleum-based products. Surplus gas is used to fire desalinization plants that produced water AND cheap electricity... and KSA leads the world in solar application research.

As these fields are used up in a hundred years or so exploration will continue for petroleum that is more dificult and more expensive to recover, but utilization and technology should also improve as we get there. IMO

Guess what, Larry: terrorism is a worldwide phenomenon. It has already gone biological, and will go nuclear in the blink of an historical eye. The world is interconnected and transportation/communication become better every year. We can't just crawl back into our collective shells, we must open our eyes.

OK, enough cliches - what does this mean? It means that there is linkage between what happens in Israel, what happened in NYC and Washington on 9/11, what happened in Iraq in 1990-91 and what will happen there sometime in the near future, and what happens elsewhere in the world. The common link is basically the radicalization of the Moslem faith, one which numbers around a billion people. They are spread throughout the world, and their collective anger and jealousy regarding the success of the West (I would say the dominance of the West) has resulted in a type of group psychosis. They have plenty of money, clerics willing (even eager) to stretch their faith to accomodate a radical agenda, lots of whore nations like France to sell them almost anything they want and dictators who need to start trouble abroad to maintain power at home. This is a combination that will lead to WW3. We had best learn to accept that rather sad and grisly fact, soon, if we hope to prevail. The next, or the next next, terrorist incident will involve tens or hundreds of thousands of deaths here, unless we wake up to the threat.

Just as in WW2, we need allies. Not the sort like Saudi Arabia that finance our enemies and feign indignation when we get bloodied, but real allies like Israel and England that are willing to spill blood alongside us to clean out the nest of snakes that would destroy our civilization. This is why we must be concerned with what happens in Israel, and why we must back up our only true ally in that part of the world. Personally, I think that Bush has come to the same realization, and is using some real crafty strategery to provide justification for a huge policy change in the near future. Arafat & Co. are going to hang themselves, and Bush just gave them a bunch of rope yesterday.

The events of the last couple of weeks are the opening rounds of a long fight. Pay attention, like we paid attention to Germany and Korea when the Soviets threatened the West. Open your eyes and your mind.

I bet fewer than 1% know of the first European Holocaust, the one Eichmann used as a model, the one which killed between 7 and 14 million Christians in the Ukraine. The code words Kaganovitch and Trotsky used to describe the Christians they killed were "kulak" and "bourgeois". That one Holocaust is common knowledge and the other virtually unknown, that Eichmann n is a household name while few know of Kaganovtich does suggest a political agenda, does it not?

England is a real ally. Israel is an ally because, right now, they need us.From the Lavon Affair to Pollard, they have often worked against us. We should work with Israel to root out Muslim terror but Americans should have no illusions that, with Israel, it is never a two way street and they cannot be trusted as the Brits can.

Any TV movies, docudramas, plays, books, magazine articles, any Memorials or museums here in America about that one?
