Given these statistics, if true, I guess you have to count yourself quite fortunate if you are still "clean". Thanks to C. Powell, J. Elders, Clintons, The Sexual Revolution, Benjamin Spock, etc. You have done so much good for us.

What used to be called venereal diseases are now termed sexually transmitted diseases. Disguised under a more neutral label, STDs have only increased.Huh? STD is a much more obvious term than VD. It's much more straightforward, not "disguised."

A gift from the DNC, Big Media and other liberal vermin:
Vast numbers of foolishly promiscuous women with the inevitable STD scarred Fallopian tubes, rendering them capable only of miscarraiges, ectopic pregnancies, and sterility.

True, it is now. I knew what VD was when I was a kid, though. It was a dirty thing you didn't want to have. So are you discounting the content of the story because of this?

They forgot cooties. Luckily I was vaccinated against cooties back in the 3rd grade. Apparently the situation has not improved as my son has informed me that most of the girls at his school are all cootie infested.

No, when the second sentence is baloney I usually just stop reading at all.

Oh, I was getting worried until I read that the part that said you had to have sex to get this stuff.
To: friendly
A gift from human nature you mean...
It is natural to have sex...it is unfortunate STD's come out of it sometimes, but it is the risk you take.
To: friendly
I'd say us men can take equal responsibility on this one. STD's could care less what "gender" you are.

Simple solution: everyone stop having sex right now, I mean it, or it's upstairs to your rooms.

That's because it's a genetically-transmitted disease.
You have too many "X" chromosomes, you got it.

No, when the second sentence is baloney I usually just stop reading at all.My generation was and is quite clear on what VD is. How is that "baloney"? Just a generational difference, as is Black vs. African-American.

Well, it's natural to succumb to any number of fatal ailments--the world around us is just ITCHING to get under our skins (literally).
But the point is you DO something about it, and decrease the odds tremendously.
NOTHING is easier to guard against than an STD, NOTHING.
You stay chaste until marriage, you have sex only with your spouse, *voila!* No STDs!

Cooties LOL. Turns out that was relatively harmless though. Good one.

It's not clear if all the numbers in this article are CDC estimates. Do you happen to know?

Could it be that you don't want to hear the truth. Or is it that you're all for unlimited sex with unlimited sexual partners anytime you please?
To: Illbay
UNLESS your spouse has an STD and you didn't find out till a few days after that wonderful honeymoon...
Then what???
To: FreedomFighter86
Yep, sure is natural, and fun too. Seems a bit more dangerous now though. From health class, in the early 70's, I remember gonnorrhea, syphilis, NSU. All 3 curable by antibiotics. Seems there are more out there now that just won't go away, or just more insidious. I wonder why.

Look up venereal in the dictionary.
venereal ADJECTIVE:
1a. Transmitted by sexual intercourse.
1b. Of or relating to a sexually transmitted disease.
2. Of or relating to sexual intercourse.
3. Of or relating to the genitals.
Pretty obvious especially during a time not that long ago (about 20 years) when venereal disease (VD) was the common term and venery a loaded term implying excessive indulgence in sexual pleasure.
