Patriots Rally For America - Live Report
Dave Dilegge - Live From DC | 20 April 2002 | Mustang

Posted on 04/20/2002 7:56:53 AM PDT by Mustang

Received two cell calls from Dave. The stage is set. The flags are waving. The weather is great. They're ready to Roll! Around 0945 the crowd was 50+ including Kristinn, sauropod, Leadpenny, Angelwood, Exit 148, GoreWarVet, Dutchy, Congressman Billy Bob, Black Agnes, TaxMan, TGSL DeComa, WhoKnowsWhatEvil, FireBrand, Country Dummy, Stan Waite, Pro2aMom, 0351Dog. (please pardon any mispelled "names" or omissions. The cell connections were poor).

Around 1015 the crowd was continuing to grow, with some spill over from the Peacenik/anarchist nitwits. Dave reports that it was the port-o-potties that attracted them. But our fearless Freepers labelled the doors "Patriots" and Patriot Women". It seems to be turning them away.

More to follow. Mustang sends from Florida.

Oh, I forgot one other thing in the post above. One of the unwashed at one point said to me, "Look how many people are here. Can we all be wrong?" Honey, assuming the population of the US runs around 300,000,000, even an extremely generous estimate of 100,000 puts you at less than one percent of our nation. Bush's approval ratings, I believe, remain above 80%. Could all of those Americans be wrong?

As one other poster pointed out above, conservatives do not really have personalities equipped for protest. We are polite, and we have families and jobs that are our top priority. As some of the stories above demonstrate, confrontation makes us tired- I know I was wiped out. But America is behind us- policemen thanked us as we walked down the street with our American flags. People on the metro from Springfield congratulated me for standing up to some of the leftists who were in the same car, and one soldier who was listening in joined in on the debate. We are well supported, my leftist friend.

But this raises the question, who was teaching them to start trouble in this way, in the hopes of gaining media attention? And who paid to have 16 year-old kids brought in from Atlanta and California to try and start trouble?

Leftover slime from the sixties, no doubt; THEIR PARENTS!

We are well supported, my leftist friend.

As I pointed out in my opening rant today for AMERICA - The Right Way, they are afraid.

How else can you explain their concern of, at most, 200 folks when their number was in the tens of thousands? How else can you explain their belief that their word will not be noticed if contrasted against that of the right? Even when they control the "mainstream" media?

There is no other explanation. They realize their position is a minority view.

They were so afraid of a gathering of 200 patriots they felt the need to try and shut us down.

"The left is as poorly funded as the right, at least for most of the people who get out and demonstrate. The great difference is that people on the right tend to be individualist, while people on the left tend to be collectivist. Collectivists tend to work well together, and to make large sacrifices for their chosen goals. Anarchists tend to pool their property, even to the point of donating half of their income (usually from minimum wage jobs) to the cause"

Which is what makes them better funded than the right. They're busy donating to the temple of their chosen pseudo religion, while the right is busy donating to their church, providing for their families and attending community functions.

"On the other hand, individualists don't work well together. Organizing people on the right is like herding cats. Only when a fundamental liberty like the right to keep and bear arms is threatened will they react, and only enough so that the present threat is dealt with."

I know. Do you have any idea how hard it was to get the "Real" seal milk campaign going? Those meetings of the Northeastern Dairy Coop were more like exercizes in tinfoil hat paranoia than the "war rooms" they should have been.

Thank Heaven that SOMETIMES we can all gather together as a unified front and fight for a cause.

The only "tense moments" reported and broadcast were verbal arguments between our patriots and some of the protestors from the other groups that occurred around 1:00 pm this afternoon. Those were quickly broken up by the Park Police, but, the press nonetheless got the closest thing to a "violent confrontation" that they could report all day.

Actually, I heard on the radio at some point that things were looking nasty between the New Black Panthers (shouting "Death to Israel!") and some peaceniks (who shouted back "Stop the Hate!"). There were lots of words exchanged and they almost went at each other.

Now THAT'S funny...

I was in the face - literally - of some parasite yesterday. He was contributing nothing beyond his presence. He was there on mommy and daddy's nickel.

Now THAT'S funny...

Now why is it the anti-war anti-violence crowd is more than willing to resort to violence to make its point?

Interesting.

It's all about water.

Well, you've heard from the high and mighty. Here's a report on how I was very mildly useful in improvised fashion. I got there late, around 11:15 a.m., found the name tag table unmanned and sat down to man it. It was not far from the dividing line between our rally and those pro-Palestinian people. So a lot of what I did was explain to them that they could *not* have name tags. Sheesh.

The name tag table was, qua table, a place the press came up to it and asked for our leader. I directed the press to Kristinn, describing him as the guy in the black suit with a mustard tie (HELLO!!?), which pretty much identified him uniquely. Kristinn, needless to say, you were great, calm, and on message. I repeat all the praise set forth above and add that next time I see you I'm giving you a new tie. Hee hee.

I kept a close eye on the drifters from the other camp. But basically what I did was give aid and comfort to our friends. I gave shaded shelter to a friendly Fox news crew and offered (although got no takers) water to the U.S. Park Police, who as usual were *so* professional! So I enjoyed the speech and enjoyed giving water to friendly forces.

Let the record show I left the table but three times: to get Joe's autograph for my boyfriend (hee hee, I feel strongly World Net Daily guy and I are now on first names as a result of my brief "your speech was great" conversation with him); to hear the Sgt. speak (wow, was he great, I had to be up front with my jaw hanging, he's such a hero); and a third time when the Palestinian protestors were coming uncomfortably close to the rally (which is why it's always safe, I guess, 'cause there's always Park Police nearby to go stand by when that happens).

After catching a mere 10 minutes of the Anti american, hate spewing, dirty indigents at the pro Palestine rally on CNN, I had to turn it off. It was making me sick.

What is so hard to understand is how any right thinking individual has so soon forgotten 9/11 and the assault on our country. Here we have a large group of a particular race whose sole goal is to anihilate us and we have to listen to garbage about racism? Give peace a chance ? Where's our sense of self preservation? We also have a section of the world that hates us and who supports our demise, yet we rely on them for our energy rather than drill on our own land? What is wrong with people? Can so many have their heads in the sand?

I hope that in the future we can plan and execute a LARGE rally of patriots to show that this thinking is suicidal. We need large numbers and I for one am willing to sacrifice in order to make this happen. I live in Ohio but will make the trek and take the time off work to acheive our goals.

Any ideas on how to organize and plan in order to get BIG numbers at these things?

Well as much as I hate to say this, I must disagee with you about how they got there. They did not get a free ride..I know. My daughter went and took my grandaughter also. They paid $40.00 ea. for bus (along with other lefties)and had to pay for thier accomadations...food and such.We tried to talk her out of it. but she believes in her cause as we believe in ours. But in all fairness, everyone did pay to get there.Tho I do not agree with my daughter, I am proud of her for standing up for her beliefs and fighting for what she thinks is right just as we do. It is strange you said that tho, as she had said to me before she left, that all us Freepers get a free ride from sponcered far right groups...I just find it strange how you said that... and she said the same thing about us.

VietVet said:Come on, guys, even with the Vietnam War winding down in 1970, at its most unpopular point, patriotic rallys on the Mall in DC were able to attact from 7500 to 30,000 people. I know; I was there. Why can't we do the same?

And your reply was:Don't forget just 5 days ago - there were over 100,000 marchers in DC to show support for Israel.

And all I can say is this: Five days ago 100,000 people showed up to support Israel. Where were the people yesterday to show support for America??

To all those who were within a day driving distance, I have to ask the question that MrConfettiMan asked so long ago about another outrage in the US, we were there - where were you?

I know many folks had good reasons that kept them away, but what about the others?

I am so happy to have seen so many good folks who did give up their day off (some their whole weekend - and some drove great distances, too) to come to the rally and stand as a counterpoint to the racist, bigoted, vicious mobs of hate-filled excuses for human beings. The folks on our side showed great restraint when small cells of inciters broke through our lines and tried to start brawls with their signs and foul mouths. For the number of folks we had there, we did a damn fine job - and every one of the folks who stood their ground at the Rally for America deserves huge thanks from the rest of us.

She may have said that because her leader, Mr. Becker, made that EXACT SAME STATEMENT on C-Span earlier that morning; that the Republican Party was financing the Patriot Rally. Kristinn called him on his "bald-faced lie" immediately. Several of the protesters themselves stated that they had been bussed in by People for the America Way; among others. Perhaps it depended on the group you were protesting with; there were so many. As for us; my rental car, hotel room, dinner, gas, and other incidentals for my wife and I were paid for out of our own pocket. Sorry to disillusion your daughter and grand-daughter, but NONE of us were "bought and paid for by the Republican Party". Have a good day!

Yes it does make you sick to see these people who because of ou freedoms are using the system to destroy those very same freedoms.

They don't seem to get that if they get their way, they will be some of the first to be treated here as they are in the Arab and Muslim countries.

I was in SF yesterday and saw first hand the ignorance and hate coming from these people.

Check later for a report and pictures from CounterCounterCulture.

Thanks for your willingness to travel to help Patriots reclaim America on it's founding principles!

Estrogen, we did that - yesterday. We had speakers, stage, sound system, and potties for thousands of people. We contacted close to a hundred media outlets in DC and nationally.

We built it - all that folks had to do was come. This should have been the big rally. Unfortunately the media for the most part chose not to report it beforehand, and so folks who were not on FR had no knowledge of the Rally. I pinged several thousand FReepers in states within a days drive of DC, and some dedicated FReepers answered the call.

As to doing this again, and making it bigger - well my savings are wiped out, as I'm sure is the case for the other FReepers who donated $$ to make yesterday's rally happen.

We did a good thing, and even though our numbers were less than we had hoped for - we held the line! And so the battle continues...

I'm not angry or bitter that not more Americans showed up yesterday. I am buoyed by the strength shown by the hardy FReepers and other Americans who stood together for America yesterday. And in a sad way I am also appreciative of CSPAN for showing the pro-Palestinian terrorist rally to the rest of America. I listened to their spew last night while I was driving home from our post-rally dinner, and I was angered beyond words at what I heard coming from these people. And I realized that this is one reason why the cells of line-breakers were so bold in their actions against our rally. Hopefully now, Americans will realize the danger we are in, from within our own borders.

You missed a great rally, Estrogen. All the speakers were fantastic. And Bob Dornan really kicked some commie butt!!
