North Carolina would appear to be an unlikely outpost for supporters of a Mideast terrorist group. But federal prosecutors say it was. And now a former member is their star witness.

One seized pamphlet labeled America “The Great Satan” and a video showed a picture of a burning car and a crowd chanting “Death to America; Death to Israel.”

More ambassadors of the "religion of peace."
Yes, but, we cannot have racial profiling, you know.
Let's fry these murderous jackals.

Why oh why are these people allowed into this country in the first place, and after being allowed in able to stay?
Does Rob Reiner know he was smuggling cigarettes? Might be a good way to get these murdering terrorists deported.
Seriously, stories like this are just horrifying to me. They come here and distribute videos promoting our murders and the overthrow of the United States government and they are all over the country.

Apparently, and unfortunately, they're not horrifying enough to our "leaders" to put a stop to it.

The men were accused of smuggling millions of dollars in cigarettes from North Carolina, where they were taxed at 50 cents a carton, one of the lowest tobacco tax rates in the country, to resell in Michigan, a state with one of the highest rates—$7.50 a carton.

Hey Dubya! High government taxes are contributing to the funding of terrorists....

It would probably be a good idea to keep an eye out in states with high cigarette taxes, like Washington state, for instance -
the highest cigarette taxes in the nation. The idiot legislators who pass these morionic "sin taxes" may get something
they did not bargain for: "cigarette terrorists" making a beeline straight for Seattle.

Arab militants - though few in number - are quite active here in North Carolina. Low-level scams by them as a source of personal income are a norm - but to pay their own bills, rather than some overseas outfit's!

They mostly came on student visas - and overstayed. Some entered into "green-card marriages" and some even got naturalized that way.

Some have been local cadres for well-known Arab militant leaders.

Wake up. The taxes are different in NC and Michigan. Does that mean anything to you?

(HINT: It is the STATE LAWMAKERS in the respective states who set the different tobacco product taxes - NOT President Bush!!!)

And, federal taxes when levied are put there by Congress (yes the President signs the bills). But Congress people pass tax laws - NOT the President.

Ok, civics lesson over - go back to sleep.

Why oh why are these people allowed into this country in the first place, and after being allowed in able to stay?

Good question!

Our government's solution to domestic terrorism is not to close the borders to fanatic murderers, but to turn America into a police state where law-abiding American citizens are under close surveillance along with barbaric foreigners who should never have been allowed to enter our country. And instead of deporting illegal aliens, Congress is considering allowing applications to let those who are in the United States apply for legal status.

duh

Just before I left NYC I met one of our recent immigrants who unabashedly told me that he came here to "crook America". I fear that this is the mindset of many of our new immigrants, not just the Islamic ones.

Hizbullah is also known as “Party of God"...

Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to throw such a party for them; they could get to meet the Big Guy real fast, but only just before he directs them to the furnace room in the basement. Works for me.

Remember those ME types who were involved in a traffic altercation some time back and offered the American huge amounts of cash NOT to call police? He called the sheriff who proceeded to let them go as I remember. I can't remember if the incident itself was pre-9/11.

Fred, I think we discussed whether or not the MEs were panicked just because they were illegal or whether they were carrying contraband--whether of a terrorist nature or "just" something like a cigarette scam...

In any event we were pretty PO'd that the sheriff let them go and were speculating about whether he was getting a pay-off on a scam. Maybe they were being stung, though only on the cigarette scam at the time.

VC, I'm very glad to read your comment #2 and know that somebody's looking after matters--at least in Atlanta.

Low-level scams by them

Why am I at risk of developing a stereotype of Arabs as being all about scams?

They are also an arrogant lot.

Wake up. The taxes are different in NC and Michigan. Does that mean anything to you?

Did I say Bush imposed the taxes?...No!

Are there federal taxes on cigarettes that contributed to the funding of terrorists?...Yes!

Does Bush claim to want to freeze/eliminate the funding of terrorists...Yes?

Did the ramification of high taxes imposed by government (state or otherwise) on cigarettes help to fund terrorists?...Yes!

So where exactly was I wrong again?

Oh, now I get it. We should thank Congress "NOT the President" for any recent tax cuts. In other words, all the good tax laws he signs are the Presidents, all the bad tax laws he signs are Congress'.

Thanks for the civics lesson...now dream on.

The poster in question is known for ignorant and deliberately false statements re taxes. He also spits on the grave of our former friend, CHIEF negotiator, with hatred hitherto unknown by me.

Stay away from it.
