Oh God, I'm so sorry. This was my first attempt. Obviously, I have failed. I apologize most sincerely. I shall try to correct.

There really shouldn't be a battle at all. This area has previously been approved for drilling. Of course, the Sierra Club has to whine about something, or they couldn't justify asking for donations, I guess.

States rights went out the window a LONG TIME AGO. Anyone who lives West of the Mississippi understands this way to well, unfortunately.

Yes, and just where are those donations coming from, I wonder? I read about contributions from Saudi Arabia. If that is true, then the GOP better get on the bandwagon.

Did you see the thread about how the Senate has now forbade US oil companies from buying oil from Iraq? On the one hand, they ban exploration here at home and on the other, they ban sales from Iraq. Just whose side are they on? Saudi Arabia's?

Grampa Dave says that he thinks the enviros are funded by the OPEC people, so hat foreign oil can maintain their market share.

I don't know that it's true, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Thanks for grabbing the article!

I don't know what the rules are anymore. All I know, is that the Federal government has been gobbling up land here in the West and doesn't own a thing in the East. Pisses me off to no end. It wouldn't bother me so much if we would just annex a portion of the East to represent what they own in the West, say the state of Mass???

Okay, now can you provide a link to the DOSE? I've tried but failed at that as well, unfortunately.

I wonder how other posters on this board feel about the decision by Bush to dump the nation's nuclear waste in Nevada? Seems like state's rights will be relevant for that issue also.... Any comments?

Yes, I agree...it is, indeed, a tangled web we weave!

Who knows, anymore? I mean seriously, is there such a thing as 'state's rights', at least here in the West? Look at Nevada...isn't 90% of the land owned by the Feds? If you look at it that way, why do they even have a State government?

I'm not advocating one thing or the other but merely trying to point out the hypocrisy of ALL OF IT! I've got an editorial from the WSJ about a bridge in Washington D.C. that needs improvement but there is a problem with some endangered species there. Are they paying any attention to that? HELL NO. They are totally ignoring the ESA, and yet, here in the West, we have to put farmers out of business for some stupid gopher.

It's a total wreck and nothing is based on constitutional or even rational thought!
