Ok folks here are the shots I took on my Washington DC sojourn on 4-20-2001. I had to compress them to make downloads easier. Anyone who wants the uncompressed shots freepmail me.
1. Got picked up in New York City and now we're stuck in traffic on the Lincoln Tunnel. Little Bill contemplates life while we wait for the traffic to move.
2. Now we're moving and barreling down the Lincoln Tunnel.
3. Having arrived at sauropod's lavish pad, electric Strawberry makes himself comfortable on the spot where he will crash for the night. I got the green beanbag on his right.
4. RaceBannon who weighs as much as the rest of us combined, tries out the 2nd mattress (he popped a spring on the other one). His snoring during the night apparently caused an earthquake that registered 5.1 on the richter scale.
5. 9 AM and time to head to the subway and the rally by the Washington Monument.
6. The car was relatively empty when we got in it. The unwashed commies got on at later stations.
7. On the way to the rally using the taxpayer subsidized Metro system.
8. After arrival we trek towards the rally electric Starwberry taking lead with his protest equipment.
9. RaceBannon in the distance stands at attention during the Star Spangled Banner.
10 & 11 Some people start showing up by 10:30 AM
11.
12. The rally a half hour later.
13. RaceBannon getting interviewed by one of the many reporters from the various branches of the Pravda news Consortium.
14. More rally shots
15. Park Police Cavalry to the rescue.
16. Pro Pali demonstrators headed our way, a lot of them were provocateurs who had it in their headsa to start trouble. Check out the robocop outfits of the park police, I bet that scared the sh*t outta them.
17. More cops guarding our rear
18. Shot towards the direction of the Pali demonstration. Get a load of Bin Laden's fashion consultant on the right. There were points during the rally we were outnumbered by newsmen. I bet that half the 5,000 pali demonstrators that showed up were actually reporters and FBI agents.
19. One of our fellow Freepers standing guard by the lavatories which we paid for. We had to guard them against the opposition after they heard that the facilities included marble sinks, gold faucets and mink lined toilet seats.
20 & 21 Bob Dornan addresses the patriot audience.
21.
22& 23 Staff Sergeant Christopher Braman, US Army addresses the rally
23.
24 & 25 Larry Klayman addresses the rally and announces he will sue God for causing rain.
25.
26. Two non Freepers join the cause and our rally when they stumble on our group.
27. 3 PM and it's time to get packing after the rally is over.
28 thru 33 Some of us retired to the Washington Hotel for a few munchies and some lively post rally conversation.
29.
30.
31.
32. I finally get a shot to get in a picture. I'm the second one in on the left, the handsome dude with the baseball cap.
33.
34. Alex-St. James of the African America Republican Leadership Council and austinTparty sat right accross from me.

OK, here are the pics of the rally in DC. All in all I was somwhat dissapointed that we didn't have more people show up. On the other hand we are not as organized as our opposition and we are poor at networking outside of our FreeRepublic circle. That is something we will have to improve upon. On the other hand let us not forget that the opposition comprises of socialist retirees that are refugees from the sixties and red diaper doper babies who are not yet in the mainstream having to work and pay taxes for a living. Therefore they have all the time in the world to make asses of themselves. Most will grow up, some unfotunately are brain dead and beyond hope and salvation.
It's as Winston Churchill once noted "If you are young and not liberal, you have no heart. If you are old and not Conservative, you have no brains.".

I don't think it would have mattered if more or less people showed up on either side. What matters is getting to the power positions. That means winning elections and influencing the major corporations. I think FR has had some success in both these areas so don't be discouraged.

Great pics. Thanks.
Sheesh... isn't it something? RaceBannon always gets interviewed by some reporters! They must be impressed by his retiring silent type presence. Yup, that's it.
What a beautiful group you are. Thank you all!!

I listened to some of the coverage that Pacifica (left end FM commercial free radio) was running on Saturday of both the SF and DC "protests". If anyone thinks that the position of the protesters was "anti-war", they would be sadly mistaken judging from the guests on the radio.
There was everything from denial of slavery in Sudan to an Orwellean word substitution where a guest rambled on about how the Palestinians were not terrorists but rather they were freedom fighters. The woman defended the "actions" by saying that they were fighting with the only weapons that they had so that they could live free. Killing civilians deliberately is an act designed to create terror, thus the label of terrorism. No one is freed by an act of suicide (a martyr can draw fire so others may escape in a "suicide mission" but that is hardly the same).
There was also heavy use of buzzwords like "ethnic cleansing" and "apartheid" to describe what was going on in Israel.
No guest asked that China or Saudi Arabia (etc. etc.) should be pressured to allow freedom of religion.
There was the admission that they were uniting people from different causes to oppose all of America's "evil" wars and an effort was being made to try to draw Columbia into the discussions.
There also was much rhetoric on economic systems.
If any of the "peace" protesters thought that they were gathering to civilly and publicly ask "both" sides to lay down their weapons then they were duped by the socialist left once again.

Looks like a great show of support for our U.S. troops
One thing. Is that not the wrong flag to have on stage ?
To: Cacique
Dear Cacique:
No disrespect intended, but I find I can't keep my mouth shut after seeing this thread.
When will our side realize that we don't do public demonstrations? Such events are the domain of the left and they will always be the domain of the left. Nixon was correct when he referred to us as the silent majority.Conservatives simply wont do street demonstrations.
IMHO, we should concentrate on what we do best.
What is that you ask?
1) We own talk radio. Radio FR has been launched, but I'd bet only a fraction of the registered members of the FR even know it exists.
2)We own the 'net. We are effective communicators. We can mobilize writing and calling campaigns far better than the left.
I could go on, but I suggest we dump what isn't successful and concentrate on what we do well....

Thanks for the "behind-the-scenes" pics. Wish you coulda got some of the freaks on the train-ride in or the rest areas on the ride home. Understand that numbers don't matter when dealing with these mongrels (word for the weekend). I'm very used to dealing with them by myself and know it makes a difference somewhere in the public's eye. The public support we get in Boston when it is 1-2 to 300 is overwhelming. Chin up and thanks for the pic documentary ES

great pics, C, and thanks for the ping !
will return the courtesy by spamming my reply from another thread ...
There's a fellow Texas FReeper who can confirm that at about 2pm on Friday afternoon,
an internal debate was raging to throw caution to the wind and make a dash from Austin for DC.
However, family matters made it impossible for that co-conspirator to also act as co-pilot,
and my middle-aged body just ain't up to those solo-eighteen-hour-nonstop road trips any more.
:-(
Dudes and dudettes, this DC member in absentia REALLY wanted to be there with y'all again !
Thank you from the Heart o'Texas for standing for all of us !
btw, the stench of those people still lingers in memory from 9-29 at the Navy Memorial...
bathe vigorously, bathe often !

We can't allow the Left to own the streets. We don't have to have as many people on the streets, we work for a living after all, but we need to be out there. The Florida post-election situation is a case in point. The Left was seen to be bussing their people in, while our folks were local. There were so many Mighty Righties on the street that the Left had to make up absurd conspiracy theories and accuse our guys of rioting.
Almost every article on the pro-terrorist supporters included a paragraph on the Patriot's Rally. That was worth it. We have to have a presence and with practice, we'll get better at it. Kristinn would NOT have been on C-SPAN without the rally.

Thanks for sharing your pictures with us! I know what you mean about being disappointed that more people didn't show up. I am part of the group that FReeps the peaceniks every Friday night in Fresno, CA. The best we can do is get twenty or so of us together on any one week. Sometimes only four or five of us show up. Hundreds and hundreds of people drive by us each week and honk and holler their support out their windows, but they just won't join us. It's too bad that conservatives like to see someone out doing what we do, but they just don't want to get out there and get involved.

#44:
The most successful post election "Florida tactic", goes to whoever coined the phrase "Sore Loserman."
That's the stuff we're good at, not public demonstrations...
To: Cacique
The pictures of the rally are great.
I regret not being able to go to the Washington Hotel with you guys.
Because of the closed streets in DC and an accident on I-66West we didn't get home until 8:45pm. A 5 1/2 hour trip instead of a 3 1/2 drive.

Thanks for going to D.C., all of you! (Don't know all your names, but recognize some faces from previous reports.)
You're right, most FReepers are people shouldering many private responsibilities; it's harder for us to drop everything and run to D.C. than it is for the pinko left. But I for one greatly appreciate your effort.
