Owls and crows have a particular animosity towards each other. I've never seen or heard of the owls eating anything other than the hatchlings. Crows do the same to other birds.

Interesting! Perhaps they don't taste good. There is a particular negative connotation to "eating crow," but I didn't think that owls would care.

You're very welcome. I'm told by the folks at the office that you can catch this on Milwaukee TV on one of the PBS stations between programs sometimes.
Better the eagle's nest than a Web Cam of Mayor Knobquist's office, eh?
Oh, oh. Papa eagle is back and mama has gotten up so we can see her eggs.

....crappie TVWe already have crappie TV. It's anything on ABCNBCCNNCBS, etc.!

oh that was neat -- I wish I could see it more clearly, it's fuzzy in full-screen mode -- my daughter saw that the "daddy" was carrying something (looked like something rather dead), said "oh gross" and refused to watch any longer

The last time the father brought food, he could have switched places with the mom. Does anyone know if they take turns sitting on the eggs? Or does one sit, while the other hunts and brings food?
Both the mother and father look identical, so it is hard to tell who's who. But last time they were both standing on the edge of the nest with the eggs exposed. When I looked again, one was gone and the other was sitting again.

I also enjoy www.juneauphotos.com One person runs it, do a search of "eagles".

Mama's doing a little houskeeping. I just saw her tuck a twig back into the nest.

04/25/2002 - Kathy Benner, of the Juneau Raptor Center, released an adult bald eagle Wednesday evening near Brotherhood Bridge. The bird was found injured in Angoon and nursed back to health here in Juneau. Cheers! Pat
Check out the gloves on Kathy's hands!

Wow this is great. Isn't it the male that sits on the egg? Look how he/she keeps a constant 360 degree watch on her/his baby. There is a lesson with our beloved EAGLE.

Look how he/she keeps a constant 360 degree watch on her/his baby. There is a lesson with our beloved EAGLE.That's a really good point. I've been watching him/her all day, and this eagle also turns in the nest, as well as turning its head. I've watch this bird rotate 360 degrees 3 or 4 times throughout the course of the day.
We should all guard our own nests that carefully!

I live on the Bayou and it is a great show. I think I've figured out our little corner of the world. We have a very mean Hawk here. He attacked one of the little birds swooped down and picked it up. I scremed and he dropped it. Then shortly afterwards the Blackbirds were yelling their heads off. I walked back into the woods and heard the Hawk. So I figured a riot was in progress.
Then when I was feeding the squirrels, inoticed they were sharing thier food with the blackbirds and other critters. It dawned on me. The Hawk is the criminal, the Blackbirds are the cops, and the squirrels, woodpeckers, little red birds and bluebirds are the citizens.
I know my life is getting really scarey.
