DES MOINES, Iowa -- The note found accompanying pipe bombs in rural mailboxes in three Midwestern states reflects a writer who is angry with the government and appears to be either working alone or in a very small group, a former FBI profiler said Saturday.
Eight bombs were found Friday in eastern Iowa and western Illinois, including six that exploded and injured six people. On Saturday, five more bombs appeared in central Nebraska mailboxes; none exploded.
"Attention people ..." the note says. "If the government controls what you want to do, they control what you can do."

Well, I can see this analyst made good use of his time in govt.
Where else have I heard this name?
Anthrax mailings just 'blow'(sorry for the pun) this tripe's MO off the map.
He was at Waco.
He said on Geraldo's show that the FBI fired flashbangs at Davidians who came outside the building, to drive them back inside----"the FBI was afraid of a massive breakout..."
Looks like he's quoted a lot - he's commented on Chandra Levy, Waco, lots of other stuff...
Bingo, that's it. This guy gets around. Where does he work?
We shouldn't be on the look out for hundreds of mail bombers working in concert, then? Thank goodness for FBI profiling!
Now that gives one pause for thought. Is Zandt insinuating that the guy has to be smart to be "angry with government"?
As I remember the brother of the Unabomber turned him or the FBI would still be looking for him ....and the Atlanta Park bomber.
It is his involvement with Waco that I remember his name. I think I met him once at the home of a mutual friend. For me it was a day which something else very interesting happened....but I shall not be discussed right now.
White male (Northern European extraction, either foreign or domestic)
High IQ
Loner, social misfit--his acquaintances and relatives think he's "weird"
At least 30 years old
Educated, but probably not college graduate; largely self-taught
Spends a lot of time at the library or bookstore or computer store, and gets into philosophical arguments with the staff, who are familiar with him from his frequent visits.
Spends time at home almost exclusively on the computer online.
Has received extensive, but not continual, psychological/psychiatric counseling, probably since adolescence.
Not politically active, but has an incoherent but firmly held argument on almost any subject.
Comes from middle-class, "normal" family (except for him).
All your grammar belong to us!
Now, I know a bunch of you, mainly the gun lovers I'm sure, will immediately start whining, "If pipes are outlawed, only pipe bombers will have pipes." To which I say, stuff it in yer pipe and smoke it!
</sarcasm>
Yes. I'm beginning to think that this story was written based on a press release issued by Van Zandt himself. Heads up!
...said Clint Van Zandt, who started his own behavioral analysis company after a 25-year career with the FBI that include leading the team credited with identifying the Unabomber.
Bull. While Carol Ann Riha writes for the news media, it appears that she never actually reads the papers or watches the news hereself, otherwise she would known that it wasn't a crack FBI team that identified the Unabomber, these guys didn't find squat for 18 years. The fact is, the Justice Department gave David Kaczynski $1 million dollar reward for turning his brother Theodore Kaczynski in for being the "Unabomber." See Unabomber's brother gets $1 million for turning him in.
Nothing in the note indicates the writer was a woman, a foreigner or anyone whose primary language is not English, he said.
More bull from Clint Van Zandt, former FBI deadwood agent who apparently (and falsely) claims to have been on the "team" that "solved" the Unabomber case. From the mailbox bombers note:
The United States strives to provide freedom for their people. Do we really have personal freedom? I've lived here for many years, and I see much limitation. Does the definition of freedom include limitation? I've learned about the history of various civilizations in history, and I see more and more limitation. Do you people enjoy this trend of limitation? If not, change it!Uh Clint, wake up and smell the coffee. There's plenty in the note that indicates that the bomber is a foreigner, albeit one who's been here a while. Now this person could have been born in the good ol USA and faking foreign status in the letter, but the letter sure as heck makes the point that the bomber wasn't born here.
"I would suggest it's either one person or a small, small group of participants, people who have known each other for a long time or shared distrust of the government, tax issues, health issues, land use, grazing rights -- all of these would be consistent."
Grazing rights??? LOLOL !Ride 'em cowboy, Clint! All the makins of a range war I guess.....
Freepers, if Clint is the best we can expect as a behavioral consultant with his former FBI, and we get our news from Carol Ann Riha, we better hope the mail box bomber has a brother who recognizes his writing style....'cause these two aren't hittin' on much.
