It's all about CONTROL. The DemonRATS want control in November. Forget the fact that Bush is playing the moderate and giving them much of what they want. What the REALLY want is CONTROL of the Congress. They are still bitter over the 2000 election. They lost and they want it back.

I would suspect it is because Bush's popularity numbers are still astronomical, and they are trying anything they can think of to bring him down a peg or two. They can't STAND that he is still up in the 80% range in the polls.

I have the sneaking suspicion from time to time that the more like the Democrats the Republicans become, the more vitriolic will be the attacks on the Republicans. Eventually, once the two parties are exactly alike, the Democrats will start shooting the Republicans (presumably with guns confiscated from the citizenry).
