How could he be president for eight years and never meet with this man? He should be strung up, drawn and quartered, tarred and feathered, beheaded and exiled - in whatever order, I don't care. Instead, he'll probably eventually run the UN.

I and many others totally agree with you, but why for God's sakes has GW protected him in every manner since he took office. Why has GW signed executive orders that would prevent investigations of the former pres.
That is just a few examples.

Any one that suggests that the attacks of 9/11 couldn't have been prevented is an idiot.

Any keyboard pounding idiot with NO KNOWLEDGE who broadly suggests 9/11 could/should have been prevented is a complete idiot.

We must be able to protect ourseleves from enemies around the world, and we must be sucessful if we want to survive as a nation.

I'm glad you used the word "we" in the above post. If events leading up to 9/11 were so darned obvious, why didn't you take it upon yourself to identify the risk, warn your fellow citizens, and stop the attack?

The vice president attacked Democratic Party critics of the White House's handling of pre-Sept. 11 terrorism warnings, saying that suggestions the attacks could have been prevented were "thoroughly irresponsible and totally unworthy of national leaders in a time of war."

Key members of Congress had demanded earlier to know if the U.S. government had had enough information to head off the Sept. 11 attacks.

"Was there a failure of intelligence? Did the right officials not act on the intelligence in the proper way? These are the things we need to find out," said House of Representatives Democratic leader Richard Gephardt.

Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle said he was "gravely concerned."

Administration officials said President George W. Bush had been warned in August of a possible hijack plot, but the intelligence was too general to act upon.

In his speech Cheney said he wanted to tell "my Democratic friends in the Congress is that they need to be very cautious not to seek political advantage by making incendiary suggestions".

Keep up the GOOD work, DIVISIVE DIMocRATS!
I look Sooo forward to the November election returns!......

Gephard and Dash-ass will say nothing. The liberal press will protect them, and nothing will happen to them. I offer into evidence the fact that one Fat Teddy Kennedy still sits on the liberal throne.

That cartoon was originally an Enron Scandal paint (below), and a couple
of days ago I posted it on another thread. Another FReeper took it, modified
it with the 911 and reposted it back to me. It IS really good, isn't it? Thanks!

Considering the MO of the dimmocrats, this is an all purpose cartoon, isn't it! Thanks for posting it. The dims are determined to find an issue, and everything they try to sling just winds up sliming them. Thank God for a little justice!!!

maybe Clinton used his vast power to get the goods on W?

i can say that about clinton and y'all will lick it up. would W ever do anything wrong? course not.

but back to the subject, a disinterested clinton leaves office and W takes over. pretty much the same folks in the intelligence community now as before (career bureaucrats). they still have the documents and capabilities that clinton ignored. now we all know how engaged W is in things such as international affairs and how open, attentive and involved he is, especially in things involving terrorism and defence of our country. i'm sure the first folks who got in the door were these long-suffering spooks whom clinton had sloughed off! right? wrong!

Tenet had been wandering around the halls apoplectic saying to anyone who would still listen to him that something spectacular and monstrous was about to happen in the summer of 2001. too bad the administration had already tired of his ministrations.

to whom do the CIA and FBI report?

i say this only to counter the total nonsense in this thread, the political back and forth of it's W's fault, it's clinton's fault, it's W's fault, etc.

what we have here is a total breakdown in our intelligence apparatus that allowed these attackers into the country in the first place and was totally incapable of tracking their movements once they were here. that isn't about partisan politics - that is about turf war between agencies.

that stuff needs fixing. it will require a strong executive to carry it through. raise your hands - how may think that Gov. Ridge is da man for the job? come on, don't be shy, get 'em up . . . hmm. i'd call that lukewarm support.

now again, how many think that W should make this his personal, top priority? if you don't recall what the purpose is for the federal government, re-read the Preamble to the Constitution.
