A private Christian school in Sacramento has expelled a kindergarten girl with only three weeks left in the school year after discovering that her mother makes her living as a nude dancer.
Christina Silvas, a 24-year-old single mom who said she had taken up stripping after her 5-year-old daughter's father stopped paying his share of tuition, was told this week by officials at Capital Christian School that her job violates the school's Christian philosophy of living.

Quoting from it...""Although school officials see the mother's job as a stripper as a clear violation of her signed commitment, automatic termination of the relationship was not an option for them," said Hagelin. "The pastor and school attempted to help the mother better her life, and offered her financial, spiritual and emotional support."
The SFC has an obvious and understandable ax to grind in this issue.
Think you know? Enlighten us.
Well, first off, your argument is illogical because I've nver heard of a stripper who is motivated by power & influence.
And I can hardly believe as a poster to this board you would begrudge someone who is motivated to do their job for money. By the way, what is your motivation for work -- the joy of a job well done? And what portion of your job is devoted to "pro bono" work? Most lawyers do a great deal of "free" work, work that is also devoid of "power and influence."
Your comments are unsupported and unfair to the legal profession. I sincerely hope you never find yourself unjustly accused in our legal system.
Now, does that change your opinion?
What is immoral about being a stripper?
Actually I think they simply need to find a better grade of church. Not all Christians would punish a five year old for something her mother does.
Harder to answer because, generally, society holds the attorney in higher regard than the stripper. Because of that, it would be harder to treat the attorney the same way. Greater threat of lawsuit also would enter into my calculation.
However, if the issues are as clear as they are here, the treatment should be the same. And frankly, after seeing the pastor/principal/whatever position he has on TV, I think he would, because he's up to it.
Then again, she could have turned down help from the church, quit work, and gone on welfare. After all, the government loves to help folks too. Would that be as admirable?
If there's any truth to what the mother said regarding her being told that they're no longer welcome there - then the church deserves no admiration at all. But hey - she's a stripper - can't trust her, can we? A church wouldn't lie to cover its backside, would it?
Ask Christina Silvas. She knows. That's why she didn't tell anybody.

OK, I read #47. My opinion didn't change though.
The school should be free to do whatever they want, I don't dispute that. It's their school...their rules.
I've a question:
If the Mom was an alcoholic, drug or gambling addict...would you say a Christian school, although within it's legal rights, was morally consistent with the Bible if they expelled the little girl?
This mother claims to instill the same values into her daughter that the school teaches, but yet leads a life that is so far off of what the child is learning at this school. Yes, I certainly pity this child for her inept mother.
Well, aren't you just special.....setting yourself up as the Judge.....you should read Romans 1 and 2 as it regards judging.
