Our troops need our support and encouragement. They are away from home, some for the first time, and usually lonely or discouraged. It is important for us to reach out and help them in the same way we would want someone to reach out to our loved ones if and when they are in the same position.

They answered their call and we are answering theirs offering them the USO Canteen FReeper Style each day and thanking them for serving.

This is IN Coming Mail from some of those serving now.

We at the USO Canteen FReeper Style, a running thread at Free Republic, are proud to support our Military. The mail comes in from contacting some of our Military Bases, Marine Corps Leagues , and friends and family of those serving now. Also from responses at the wonderful P.O.Box that 68-69TonkinGulfYatchClub has made so easily available to each of us here at Free Republic.

They are writing to those that frequent the FReeper USO Canteen to thank you for your support.

With the sometimes negative press coverage of the Operation,
it is satisfying to know that the majority of the country are behind
the Sailors. Please pass along on best wishes and thanks to everyone
in your group at Free Republic’s Canteen.
It is a pleasure to serve such a fine group of people.
Out here on a ship in a big ocean and glad you all are there.

Thanks for the laughs and all the good information. The Eye
Candy that has helped my vision I am sure. LOL
The articles and images of the ships like the ones Aomagrat shows
and the hearts of everyone of you letting me in on your dedication
and fun while you are supporting all of us.

What you all have put together is absolutely amazing.
I have been in for a long time and have been deployed to
the gulf more times than I care to count and this is the first
I have seen anything like this.
We have gotten Any Sailor cards, but that is about it.
I hope you and all of your helpers know how much we
appreciate all you are doing for us.

It really makes the separation from our families easier.
Thanks too for your P.O.Box, sure hope it gets a lot of use
Cause we sure do need it around here.

I wanted you to hopefully hear in these simple words how much
of an impact your Free Republic Style USO Canteen is to me.
No matter the amount of time a sailor has in the Navy, whether it's
a newly reported sailor or a commanding officer, the well wishes and
generous support we receive from all of you goes deep.
I have been reading it for awhile now and it just keeps getting better!

Hi my name is Bill but everyone calls me Fuzzy.
I got to tell you something so please pass this on. When I
found out about what all of you are doing, I had tears in my
eyes and it wasn’t this danged place I can tell you that much.

OH I am glad to be serving my country, Damn straight about that
But out here it can be pretty miserable with some of the conditions
and missing home .
You guys there really know what I like to read about and the things
I like to see. I swear it is my home away from home and there are no
real words for that.

Here are some of the Canteeners that I want to thank. You Snow Bunny
for opening the place up everyday. Jim Robinson, my buddy said you are
the man and he is right about that. You put your dream into action and
thanks for Free Republic.

those that are Veterans. You served our country and now it is our turn and we will

Intelligence: Terrorists plan attack - al-Qaeda
messages hint at strike that surpasses Sept. 11

WASHINGTON - American intelligence agencies have intercepted a vague yet troubling series of communications among al-Qaeda operatives over the last few months indicating that the terrorist organization is trying to carry out an operation as big as or bigger than the Sept. 11 attacks, intelligence and law enforcement officials say.

But just as similar threats last summer left counterterrorism analysts guessing about al-Qaeda's intentions and led them to believe that the attack might be carried out overseas, the new interceptions are so general that they have left President Bush and his counterterrorism team in the dark about the time, place and method of what some officials refer to as a second-wave attack. The government is essentially limited to taking broad defensive measures.

"It's again not specific as to time, not specific as to place," a senior administration official said.

The officials compared the intercepted messages, which they described as cryptic and ambiguous, with those picked up last spring and early summer, when al-Qaeda operatives were also overheard talking about a big operation.

The senior official said Friday that the amount of intelligence relating to another possible attack, in Europe, the Arabian Peninsula or the United States, had increased in the last month. Some of the information comes from interviews with fighters captured in Afghanistan.

Despite the disruption of al-Qaeda's operations around the world since Sept. 11, and despite major spending increases and shifts of resources to counterterrorism operations, U.S. officials say they have not been able to fully piece together the clues about al-Qaeda's plans.

Here's what happened:

The Chancellor kicked the group off campus. They were forced to move their demonstration to town. They also ended up making their own flag instead of desecrating an American flag. I would say thats a WIN!

The student group, Students for a Conservative America, was there and took pictures. They will post an article in their online newspaper, Redwood Review..........

Also, we got some terrific coverage on a local radio station, KSCO Santa Cruz. They helped get the information out to the community so that we could counter the desecration party.

Thanks to everyone who wrote Chancellor Greenwood and kicked up a fuss with that awful group of people.
