Casting more partisan stones: David Limbaugh shames Dems for below-the-belt slander

Don't let them fool you. Despite their hasty retreat since, many leading Democrats last week impliedly accused President Bush of having foreknowledge of the Sept. 11 attacks and doing nothing to prevent them.

Based on a leaked report, we learned that during an intelligence briefing on Aug. 6, 2001, President Bush was told that Osama bin Laden might attempt domestic airplane hijackings.

Administration officials have since explained that there was nothing threat-specific in the report to indicate the terrorists' intentions of using the planes as guided missiles to attack civilian and military targets. In fact, there was nothing new about this information at all, since the threat of plane hijackings has been ongoing for years.

Even Democrat Sen. Bob Graham, the Senate Intelligence Committee chairman, corroborated the White House in affirming that the terrorist warnings President Bush received were not detailed enough to warrant actions beyond those the White House took.

But sensing a window of Bush vulnerability, Democrats seized on it. House Minority Leader Dick Gephardt, in the unmistakable vernacular of Watergate, said that Congress needed to find out what Bush knew, when he knew it and what he did with the information.

Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle expressed "grave concern" about the report. "Why did it take eight months for us to receive this information? And secondly, what specific actions were taken by the White House in response?"

Attack maven Congressman Jerry Nadler went further, suggesting that if it were discovered in hearings that Bush had prior knowledge and failed to act, it would be akin to "malfeasance of the highest order." "We need a clear investigation."

Dr. Sheila McGuire Riggs, the Iowa Democratic Party chairman, said, "But right now the pieces from the CIA and FBI that we have in front of us lead us to believe [Bush] failed to protect the American people."

I could cite many more examples, but you get the point. Democrats were on message, suggesting impropriety on Bush's part. Why else ask what he knew, when he knew it and why it took him eight months to tell us?

The answers to those questions are that he knew nothing that could have helped him prevent the terrorist attacks and there was therefore nothing to report to the American people. There is no reason to cover up when you have nothing to hide. There is simply no "there" there.

Of course, after Democrats floated their slanderous trial balloons, and they were all popped out of the sky by the White House's justifiably indignant reaction, they ran from their statements as fast as their spin would carry them.

"I never, ever, ever thought that anybody, including the president, did anything up to Sept. 11, other than their best," said Gephardt on Fox News Sunday. Then, calling the kettle black, he added, "sometimes people overreact to things and think we're in a political campaign. This is not about politics." Please hold your laughter. Mr. Gephardt apparently wasn't trying to be funny.

Let's be clear. Democrats have every right to disagree with President Bush and criticize him over any policy matter under the sun, including his handling of the war. But Republicans aren't trying to deny them that right.

This is getting so predictable. Every time the mother of public opinion catches Democrats with their hands in the cookie jar of sinister partisan politics, they immediately counter attack, whining that Republicans are questioning their patriotism. Republicans aren't jumping on Democrats for their act of criticizing the president, but for the substance of that criticism – which was way below the belt.

The only reason Democrats asked their accusatory questions was to raise the possibility that Bush might have known of the attacks and let them happen. They might as well have asked whether he was capable of committing genocide.

This, I think, is what Vice President Cheney was getting at when he described his "deep sense of anger that anyone would suggest that the president of the United States had advance knowledge that he failed to act on."

President Bush did absolutely nothing wrong here, and Democrats know it. It is destructive for them even to hint otherwise. Our intelligence services doubtlessly need improvement in analyzing and communicating terrorist threats, but we should not delude ourselves into thinking that we'll ever be completely bulletproof from random terrorist attacks.

This is one area where partisan politics really should take a back seat. Let's work on bolstering our domestic security not by playing the mutual blame game, but by assessing our weaknesses and formulating strategies to overcome them.

I wonder if it's beginning to dawn on the RATS that this administration will shoot back when they make ridiculous accusations?

Knowing full well that it was their party's leader who brought this terror to our shores, the demonrats went on full attack. It is not a surprise that this attack was led by the wife of the terrorist appeaser in chief.

That is a look of searching in those eyes - searching for all that he could muster in himself to rise up and lead. It's the look of one who has realized that from this moment on, nothing will ever be the same again.

I know he's man enough to handle it, but how must it feel to think there are people out there who actually believe you are a traitor who doesn't care a wit about the Amerian people? That's really what the lib/dems are saying about the President. I can't imagine how he must feel in those moments when he must acknowledge to himself that there are at least a handful of people who aren't just saying those things for political reasons - they actually believe he is capable of such evil.

John-I think it goes way beyond below the belt slander Mr. Limbaugh so directly discusses.

Imho-the democrats who have so attempted to break the trust the American people feel (and need to feel) for our President in time for the elections are doing this for a very important reason-a far greater reason than simply placing all the blame on the President's shoulders.

I believe the democrats are doing this as a first strike in order to DEFLECT and DISTORT and HIDE the fact that during the klinton reign of terror they conspired to TRASH, DISBAND, DISABLE, IGNORE, BELITTLE, DE-FUND and literally render our intelligence agencies as well as our military agencies the ability to protect our nation.

Bottom line, if the democrats had not so destroyed our ability to infiltrate dangerous organizations around our nation and world, if our government during the klinton years had not STOPPED all FRUITFUL investigations into Arab Muslim charities, if our government in congress had not hurt our military by de-funding improvements in not only machinery necessary for war but dispirited our troops, if the congress had not IGNORED all the briefings that they got after klinton's briefings regarding terrorists, if our congress had INSISTED that bill klinton GO AFTER BIN LADEN when he was offered on a silver platter then Sept 11th might NEVER had happened. If the designer of Sept 11, bin laden, had been in our custody he would have NEVER been able to plot and plan his terrible actions on Sept 11th.

This is a cover your ass attack. It is meant to place our President on the chopping block when the next attack occurs.

The congress has not been DOING THEIR JOB written in their own oaths of office to PROTECT and DEFEND the constitution of the United States of America and to provide for the common defense.

Period.

Why have our intelligence agencies, ONLY NOW, after the fact, being organized and restructured so that communication flow is improved? BECAUSE OUR INTELLIGENCE COMMITTEES in CONGRESS IGNORED the BRIEFINGS they received for EIGHT LONG YEARS.

To EXPECT the agencies, already in trouble when President Bush took office, to perform after the TRASHING they took from CONGRESS under klinton's directives, is the most horrendous, deceiving, nasty, dispicable, lying, distorting and scummy behavior I have EVER witnessed on the part of the democrats. Bar none.

If the PRESS had even ONCE approached the charges from gephardt and daschle and hillary with this BALANCE.......then our nation would have been elevated under the truth. Instead....these democrats, who KNOW what they have done in the past to HURT our defense structures and our national security structures...chose to BLAME one President in the most ghastly and hurtful and deceitful way possible.

Shameful.

Laz nailed this big lie with his great response.

Only a few of those 19 murderous Islamic Hijackers even knew what their plan of mass murder was until that morning or until they were up in the air.

How could GW have known this if only OBL and a handfull of his mass murder planners knew this?

The rats under Carter/Clinton have tried to kill/destroy this country for decades. Now Da$$hole/Gephardless and other Rats in congress and the media work 24/7 to destroy this country.

MAKE THE USA/WORLD SAFE FOR al Qaeda terrorists!

VOTE FOR RAT SOCIALISTS LIKE DA$$HOLE/GEPHARDLESS THIS NOVEMBER!
