I would agree with you on that, except for one thing: it's not why Ashcroft flies on military planes. There were personal threats made against him PRIOR to 9-11. And it's probably Dan Blather and the rest of Big Media that is bringing the nuts out from under the rocks to make such threats, with their constant harping about him being a "fundamentalist Christian".

Dan Rather: "Ashcroft is Out to Get Me" That's him. "Captain Dan, the Newsman", as Brit Hume calls him.

NO ONE needs to be out to get the bugger.
His lack of reasonably tolerable "reality testing" would be sufficient.
His poor taste in values would be plenty sufficient as well.
Then there's his treason.
And his idiocy.
If Ashcroft is out to get him, more power to Ashcroft. A national stage free of Dan Rather would have to be an improvement.

Sounds to me like DAN HAS LOST HIS MIND. Sheesh, he better take his paranoid medication. Any network that allow him to represent them as an anchor must want to lose the ratings war.

Ashcroft and all pols should fly commercial coach, then we would have
real security.

I look forward to the day when Dan just completely loses it on live television and they have to haul him off in a straightjacket. I'm surprised it hasn't happened already, sheesh, the guy is certifiably nuts.

But I'd had thought he was bigger than that."
Who is crying now, Dan?
To: Paul Atreides
Dan Rather...a legend in his own mind.
Dear Dan, you aren't as important as you think you are, and no one in their right mind takes you seriously anyhow.
To: Paul Atreides
His Letterman appearance was just a tune up. And still CBS suits let him run around babbling his paranoia. They better get this guy under control if they want to preserve any credibility they may still have. On second thought...

Next, the good Captain is going to start flipping out about the strawberries.

Dan Rather:
I would like at this moment to announce that I will be retiring from this program in two weeks time because of poor ratings. Since this show is the only thing I had going for me in my life, I've decided to kill myself. I'm going to blow my brains out right on this program a week from today. So tune in next Tuesday. That should give the public relations people a week to promote the show. You ought to get a hell of a rating out of that. Fifty share, easy.

It sounds like Old Dan has been senile for a very long time.
I remember reading about a FReep where one of our FReepers stopped Dan and Mrs. Dan (or whoever she was) either entering or leaving some political event. This FReeper asked Dan about his "Clinton is an honest man" comment. The FReeper said that there was really fear and anxiety in Dan's eyes, and a "Please don't hurt Dan" in Mrs. Dan's eyes!!
If I remember correctly, Dan stood by his "Clinton honest" comment to the FReeper, but wanted to get away as fast as possible! LOL!

Bernard Goldberg is right. Dan Rather has become the Richard Nixon of American journalism.
