Country singer Toby Keith has some choice words for Peter Jennings.

Toby Keith says the producer of an ABC 4th of July TV special rescinded an offer to have the country singer perform his current hit after the show's host, World News Tonight anchor Peter Jennings, heard the song and vetoed it.

this song touched a nerve with me

Me too. And you can switch country stations here in Central PA and hear the song nearly any time of day or night. It's the most requested song the capitol area has had in a long time.

"As soon as we could see out of our big black eye
We lit up your world like the Fourth of July."

D*** straight.

Shalom.

While I've never been a fan of Country Music,

I was a country fan when young, then moved away when it started being more about sex than r&r is. However, after 9/11 I started tuning into the country stations because the rock stations all stopped playing the patriotic songs too soon. The country artists know what patriots want to hear. Michael Jackson's "Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning", I'm not sure who recorded "Where the Stars and Stripes, and the Eagle Fly", Brooks & Dunn "Only in America", and now Toby with "The Angry American."

Some of it is still as bad as the reason I tuned away, but since then the rock stations have all sounded like insipid tributes to narcissism to these old ears.

Shalom.

because can you believe he actually says he knows Jesus?!

I not only believe he says that, but I believe he knows Jesus.

The reason "Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning" won't make it on any network anytime soon is because it is a stinging statement that all religions are not the same. It indicts Islam as being radically different from Christianity and then judges Islam as inferior, not by saying anything about Islam but by touting Christianity.

How un-PC can you get.

I love the song.

Shalom.

I love Alan jackson's song but the bit about "I watch CNN" always makes me want to yell "But Why Alan WHY?"

Same reason I do - it's in the hotel rooms. When FOX is there, I watch that.

Man's on the road a lot, you know.

Shalom.

Oh, yeah. I forgot to say that if he watched FOX more he might be able to tell you the difference in Iraq and Iran. CNN dumbs down everything.

Shalom.

Thanks for the reply. Actually, 95% of the time we have Christian music on in the car, and at home. We are lucky to have 3 christian FM stations here in Minneapolis.

KLOVE has a station here, and we are monthly supporters of that fine station, although I personally would like to have a "Air-1" or "CHristian Pirate Radio" out let here, so I could get some more Rock style music.

I just got back from a trip out west, and I noticed that many cities west of the Mississippi River have a KLOVE affiliate. It appears to be a syndicated station. Here, in Atlanta, we don't have KLOVE, for all our stations start with a "W".

Yet, it's good to hear that you listen to Contemporary Christian music. In Atlanta, we have four Contemporary Christian Stations. All four are independent, and I believe two of them survive merely on donations.

There's good news. The number of CCM stations is spreading like wildfire. It's hard to find a major city that does not have one anymore. A few years ago, only a few cities carried the format. So there is a lot of good news.

I used to listen to the alternative rock, but I cannot stand to listen to it anymore. Most of it sounds aweful, and I constantly am thinking, "I can't believe I liked this". Perhaps it was spiritual maturing, or perhaps it was me merely growing up and liking more adult formats (I'm 25), I don't know. However, CCM and Country is about all I listen to, with the exceptions of some adult contemporary songs. Furthermore, I'll listen to classical every now and then.

Thanks for the positive response.

I hear ya. While at work I listen to Conservative Talk radio, mostly because I can't pickup any of the Christian stations in the office (too much interference). Which is good too. :))

I forgot to add.

Yes KLOVE is a Syndicated station that uses Satellite broadcast down to local "FM repeater stations" to carry their signal to affliates all over the nation.

I heard about this on the radio this morning on the way to work. The two djs were chatting back and forth about the liberal bias in the media and how Peter Jennings is a Canadian high school drop out. I was LMAO!! People may be starting to get it! I can only hope!

Singer says ABC's Jennings gave him the boot

Sheryl Crow is still performing. How's that new song of her's go again?

"My Friend the Communist..."

Hmmmm... I wonder if she's performing that one.

While that may be true (I'm not challenging you) I've heard hip-hop blaring out of more than one car as it passes by, and I can't imagine how anyone ever listens to that, or can tell the difference between any two songs.

Maybe that's part of hitting middle-age.

Shalom.

I think we should load ABC up with e-mails. (Remember the Port Authority of NY?) I sent mine to netaudr@abc.com but there may be a better one that I'm not aware of.
