Seems like there is always something that must be done, when you own a house, always something costing mucho bucks...ah well, better that, than renting...

What a wonderful tribute to an obviously loved and revered father. Mine turns 80 in August and a neurological exam just confirmed a series of "mini strokes" and early dimentia. He's a WWII Marine, was part of the red wave attack on Saipan in which most of his unit was lost. He and many were rescued by "locals" and were not able to get help until the beach was secured. He spent over a year in a military hospital but made an almost full recovery (although he has had 10 hip replacements in the past 25 years due to the injuries) He couldn't bring himself to talk about it when we were growing up. Actually it was my husband who was able to draw out much of his experience. Since Sept. 11th and his "failing memory" he spends much more time there. We were with him on Memorial Day and he (and many his age) participated in a moving tribute to all our vets. Thanks for the ping. Think I'm going to sign off and call him for a third time today... (as I wipe the tears from my eyes...)

Yes, kids need to be kids...You can warn them about real dangers, but aside from that, they need to experience life, bumps and all...

Great! I guess I'll have to try it also.
I tried to subscribe to the newsletter, but it's gone away like so many dot bombs.

This is another reason many of us are passionate about our FundRaisers here - we can see clearly what happens without the necessary funds, each and every month.

Please keep us posted on the bird's progress. Thanks, JL

What would you do Without FR?????

How would You Feel without FR??? Suppose one day you tried to log on and Free Republic wasn’t there?
Where would you get your up to the minute news? How about the live threads as things are happening?
How would you know about the latest Demorat scams, anti-second amendment schemes and all the other liberal, anti-American ploys that are tried every single day?
Insight into world affairs, brilliant wit, sharp retorts, instant information gratification are a few of the things that make FR so vital.

How would you keep on top of things without FR?
How would you know who to contact to complain about the lying politicians, Media Bias, Hollyweirds latest mouth off, sponsors of these idiots, company policies that are unfair and all the other things we need to know to counteract the liberal mindset and the evil plans of liberals?
How would you be part of a Freep?

What would you do without FR????

Freedom isn’t free.

If you enjoy the site and find it a place of like minded Americans to sound off, to get together,
to fight back, to have your voice heard and make a difference, PLEASE CONTRIBUTE NOW! Jim can’t do this alone.

The liberals are sure we won’t be able to keep FR up & running. Prove them wrong. Show them we are indeed united Freepers.
Whether it is $5.00, $50.00 or more, it all adds up. Please send a donation now to Free Republic.

Your support of Free Republic will be greatly appreciated! Make a difference. Please contribute today.

Thank You!!

I have written Free Republic a $10.00 check which is in an envelope addressed and stamped and leaning against this monitor to go out to Fresno from Santa Fe in tomorrow's mail.

We built W-bins for a Persuasions concert in Cleveland in 1974. Cabinets containing two 18-inch JBL speakers, built of several sheets of three-quarter plywood, epoxied black, with casters, corners and concealed handles from J.H. Sessions Hardware, Bristol, Connecticut.

I got to shovel for the four a capella singers pre-concert, then, stoked, they went out and began with:

Boom boom boom-boom-boom

Jus' call on me, brother, when you need a hand,

We all need somebody to lean on.

I jus' might hav' a problem that you'll understand.

We all need somebody to lean on.

And Woody the Viking-like from our shop tipped me that if you lie on your back on one of these W-bins, the vibrations will blow the carbon out of your cylinders.

Here's to Free Republic, the somebody we all need to lean on.

Long may you wave.
