I've been worried about something like this or kidnapping for export to a foreign country for who knows what purpose.
Looks like the police are playing their cards really close to get the group and the top people. Wonder if the push on Edmonds was for a needed piece of evidence to take action on the others?
I did hear there was an attempted kidnapping in this neighborhood a couple years ago .. and Fox News did mention that he was cought trying to break into a home near by last year .. not sure if there is any relationsip to it all

MY DEEPEST Apologies Jolly Green, That was not at all my intention, I was going biased by stories last week, and also trying to find a reason of hope that she could still be alive.
Please This is an emotional case, I was going by the News stories I heard, I was not "finger pointing", just asking a question.
It would have been easier to grab her off the street. Why go to all of the trouble of breaking into the house and possibly being caught?

I don't know why anyone would do that, I don't know why anyone would kidnap her in the first place. I read on the first part of the thread that it had to do with a ransom, I was going by that. I have no idea, which is why I was asking? I meant no insult to my question, I apologize for how it came across.

The National Enquirer doesn't constitute a source for news. The police have said recently that the family is now on the back burner.

I imagine that Smart didn't hire him directly, but instead hired contractors. In a place like SLC, where there's lots of building going on, contractors will often hire anybody who can can swing a hammer. We had some really interesting fellows working on our house (not in SLC) -- and our contractor was pretty careful, too.
BTW, this also suggests a method of entry.
When you're having big stuff done to your house it's common to let the construction guys have a key. If Ricci made a copy, and Smart hadn't changed the locks yet -- they could simply have strolled in the front door, locked or not. If Ricci is in on the disappearance, dollars to donuts this is how he got in.
How old does this guy look about? How do you know he lives in a trailer?
I know a lady who told me that her sister was kidnapped when she was 15 years old but was able to escape before she was transported out of the area. Her kidnappers were trying to force her onto a private plane at Las Vegas when she got away. According to what I was told, the plane took off as soon as they realized she was running for the terminal. They were never caught.
Much as we might not like to think about it, I think there may very well be considerable traffic in young caucasian girls. The subject was pretty well covered in "Unintended Consequences". After this much time, it may be better to pray that they died quickly.
