Depending on if they find out if Edmunds is involved or not. Federal Charges will be dropped on Edmunds, but Utah state charges still stand.
There is no information that links Ricci to Edmunds.
Ricci spend quite a bit of time in the Smart home last year in September working on it and was around the children.
Ricci is married and they have talked to his wife.
They took items from Ricci home for inspection.
Ricci is pronounced "Reese"
Smart paid Ricci with a car for some of the work Ricci did in the Smart Home, police have the car.
SLC Police; Ricci is an important witness, not a suspect at this time.
Ricci denies involvement
Ricci has taken a lie detectot test...(results are not being disclosed)

I did not hear this...

No, there is nothing in the LDS religion that the oldest son has the say for the rest of the family. As far as Tom Smart overruling the rest of the family on four separate occasions, that is not fact, that is info from Marc Klaas, and I don't know who else.

Personally, I was rather surprised the issues were pulled. I wouldn't buy one, but that is my own decision. The interesting thing is that at the grocery store I shop at, they put those black covers in front of every magazine on display at the checkstand, which really cuts down on sales...

Fox News is reporting that Ricci FAILED the polygraph (MSNBC did not report this)
To: brigette
Wow. I missed most of the press conference, so I didn't hear that Ricci broke into the Smart home last year. I just heard that he had worked on the Smart home.
To: Bella
I hear Fox News now talking about him returning to the Smart home to break into it after he worked on it. (I was watching MSNBC when the interview with SLC police was on, plus I was typing at the same time)
To: brigette
...and right after Fox reported that, they went back to the conference with the Smart relatives, and the question was asked about how long Recci had worked for Ed...and the family spokesman said " Oh not long, maybe 2 months, or three,A VERY SHORT TIME "

When they were talking about the alibis..they said Ricci's wife has an alibi, said that Ricci's alibi was really up to par, then a few minutes later, said that they both have alibis? Wonder if there was a slip of the tongue?

2 or 3 months is a long time for a handyman to work on a home. My father was a handyman... most jobs are done within 1 week.

I didn't hear about the alibis, only that Richard Ricci's was not solid.

Yeah, there seems to be some waffling on how long Ricci worked for the Smarts and the nature of that whole relationship. The family is making it look like a very brief, strictly business deal. The police are saying that the arrangement went on much longer. I'm curious about Mr. Smart having provided Ricci with a car......the family is explaining that as a barter, but it does sound unusual, especially since the family is saying he only worked for a couple of months. And the tidbit about Ricci having burglarized the Smart home last year.....I wonder why that has been kept under wraps. I don't recall hearing that the Smarts had ever had trouble with break-ins before.......

One of the reporters asked the family man about Ed Smart helping Ricci buy a car. The family spokesman said it was purely a business deal and that Ed Smart was paying Ricci with a car in liu of money.
Gets stranger and stranger. What kind of business deal is this? To avoid paying taxes, to avoid Ricci losing unemployment benefits? Something's not right. You might make a deal about work in exchange for a car with a teenager, but not a grown man unless you are trying to get away with something.

Someone needs to find out what kind of hat this guy wears most of the time.
To: freedox
Interesting that they're saying that he was known to the Smart children.
