"I am so proud of President Bush calling the Palis out for their corruption and culture of death and violence and stating the principles for which we stand with such clarity."

I am too.

The President also understands the dire consequences for the entire world if all those who want war - win. He started the speech, didn't he, "for the sake of humanity"....

What men have had to look at such a prospect square on and come out with the calmness and coolness that we have just heard. I am telling you = and anybody else who wants to hear - this President has God's help. No human being going it alone could have given the speeches he has been forced to give at the critical moments - to the American People, to Congress after 9-11, in that Memorial service, and on and on - and this one.

I think we are seeing God's grace in action in this President's life and it is stunning to watch. Very humbling.

Thanks for that implicit acknowledgement. We are left to marvel at the mysteriously implied 'stick.'

How long will antagonists start to complain about how this speech begs the question when will the U.S. will send troops?

Found in Deuteronmy 30:19

I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

Quoted widely by us knuckle-draggin' right wing Christians.

I'm with you, both in feeling discontent at the handling previously and in liking what I heard (well, read) here.

The right thing? I think the right thing would be to say...the USA couldn't care less what happens there. You guys have been fighting there since Joshua crossed the Joran river. We don't care. Let us know when one of you defeats the other because we'd like to be able to visit Jerusalem and the surrounding areas now and then. In the mean time, we have real issues that affect American citizens.

That would have been a good policy to have adopted in 1967. Unfortunately, for the past 30+ years we have involved ourselves so heavily in the conflict that we cannot simply throw up our hands and leave. It would completely destroy our relationship with countries like Jordan, Egypt, Morrocco, and others whose cooperation we need in our fight against Al-Qaeda.

We need to bring about a settlement, and then, and only then, can we wash our hands of the conflict. Unfortunately, the Israeli lobby will never let us do that, but one can hope.

I know that I do not support the idea of a Palestinian State within the confines of Israel...I thought NO conservatives supported that...

What we DON'T support is giving statehood to them as they currently live i.e., terrorism.

Did you sleep through the speech? Why do you insist on making others believe a lie? You aren't even going throught the trouble to take the president out of context. You are simply omitting all that the president actually said.

In a recent op ed...Mid east analyst Daniel Pipes commented that Islam was bitter and envious....sitting on the periphery of the economic world....sulking!
I'm sure the cries will rise to some creshendo..but it will avail little ...
Saddam is toast...so is Al Qeda..Hizbullah and other terror orgs.
Islam can hand them over...or perish with them.

Israel has every right to defend themselves

You heard that part exactly right.

The question remains will the US policy ambiguity of pre-emptive strikes at the PA be tolerated? Will Bush allow the Israelis to cross the border?

OH come on TG, Just because GWB comes against the covenant given land of Israel, and wants to take them from Israel and give them away to placate the 'Arabisque' State dept. doesn't mean the end of America!

...And just because George looks like Gog...

RABBI WINSTON'S WEEKLY PARSHA PAGE
Parshas Lech-Lecha

Excerpt:

Ha-ha-ha. That's not me laughing, that's Heaven laughing, for as the Yiddish expression goes (after translation, that is), Man plans and G-d laughs. In fact, someone wrote me and told me that George Bush would have attacked Afghanistan earlier had weather conditions not delayed him until the 22nd day of Tishrei. I can't confirm that fact yet, but it doesn't matter anyhow. The fact is that after weeks of preparation and deliberation, George Bush Jr. finally let loose on Sunday, October 7th. However, according to the Jewish calendar in Israel, it was already (just barely) Monday, 22 of Tishrei - Hoshana Rabbah - the one day of the year that G-d judges the gentile nations as well as the Jewish people.

One person tried to convince me the other day that the Teimani pronunciation of the word "Gog," is to say the "g" (gimmel in Hebrew), the same way we do when we say "George." Then, something happened to the "r" (raish in Hebrew) sound along the way, though I can't remember what. But, when he was finished, we had "Gog m'Gog" (George Bush Jr., son of George Bush Sr.).

It was a nice try, but for all we know, it is true. After all, it is unusual that the son should be president two terms later, just when another conflict in the Middle-East and Asia has quickly duplicated his own father's dilemma. And, it is even more unusual that the son should have the same name as the father, "George."

How we take subtle historical coincidences for granted, and brush them off easily only because they are not blatant enough four our liking. It's like taking an exam in school, and then getting up and going over to the examiner to complain, "Hey! I don't like this question. It doesn't indicate enough what the answer is!"

You have to appreciate that point, because it could have happened during Clinton's era, but didn't, as if it was waiting for George Bush Jr. to get into the White House, something he did only after great controversy. We forgot about that one already, didn't we? From a Torah point of view, such "suspense" is always a sign that Heaven is directly involved in the event in question, and that we, the Jewish people, are being given a chance to wake up and do teshuvah. The results, we are being told, are being made dependent upon our choice...

...Just because... Uh, never mind, I gotta run to the store before the hail starts falling,

Later!!!

Remember the nay sayers and the so called conservative arm chair admirals and generals, like loser Billy Kristol, who laughed at what he told the Talibaners!

As you noted. Today President GW started another clock ticking off the time before the next entree gets chewed up.

The DUers and the 24/7 professional hate GWers are laughing or saying sure as they do.

I can gurantee you that there is full panic amongst the next entrees on his dinner menu. He named Iraq and Iran and warned Syria. They are not laughing nor jeering at GW. They know that they could be sold as parts and pieces in a fast food chicken restaurant in the middle east very soon.

The best warriors the Arabs had were the fierce Talibaners and the al Qaeda thugs in Afghanistan. They saw what happened to their buddies in Afghanistan.

In a short time our military people will be rested and trained with newer weapons, communications and ways to find and destroy the next Islamic thugs. The jagoff lawyers who don't want to kill the enemy leaders are holding hands and counting the tampax and toilet tissue in remote military bases. Rummy has congratulated and promoted the good and banished the Clintoonian pink panty wearing officers promoted during the Bent One's time.

The Air Force will have new and better bombs and better equipment, the Navy will be awesome (little pride here), our spec ops people will be even deadlier and the Army guys are ready to lock and load and fire. Of course the Marines just want to kill and break things to carry own their tradition. The CIA will have Predators ready to take out the leadership levels of the thugs in these three countries. There will be no not fire orders.

The bullies of the Arab world know that and more is coming their way. When we don't know.

However, GW gave a clear message on that at West Point.

He called it Pre Emptive strikes. That should send more chills down the backs of the Islamic Thug leaders.

I agree. They are more happy to see our economy in the tank than they have been about anything else. They detest our freedom.

I'm watching to see where this is going and so far, I'm not impressed... not with Bush, nor with those certain followers who will rend those who fail to assimilate. I gave you the benefit of the doubt, since your previous post to me appeared to be courteous and sincere. Well, thanks for clearing that up.

I reject and find unfair your characterization of those people on this thread who have traditionally supported the President's policy positions.
