Why does the popular culture -- including the movie industry -- place such a powerful premium on downplaying the obvious connection between international terrorism and fanatical Islam?

Just 10 days before the government announced the detention of Jose Padilla (also known as Abdullah Al Muhajir) on charges of plotting a ''dirty bomb'' explosion on American soil, Hollywood unleashed Bad Company, its second thriller in two weeks about nuclear terrorism in the United States.

The voice of reason is a very refreshing but rarely heard sound on this subject.

The bias of the movie industry is so apparent that it might be laughable, if it didn't have the possibility of influencing thought. Did anybody notice that Sum of All Fears also changed the German terrorist group that was the pawn/ally of the Islamics into a right wing neo-Nazi group - instead of the left wing Red Brigades group they were in the book?

The reason Hollywood doesn't wish to be realistic about Islam is that the Palestinians and other Islamic terrorist forces are perceived as being left-wing in nature, and are thus the darlings of the European/American left and, of course, of Hollywood.

BTW, the Red Brigades are back, and recently killed a real hero who was working for the benefit and prosperity of all Italians to free up their frozen labor market.

I fear this is a pattern. The headline grabbing "success" of Islamic terror will invigorate hard left terrorists. It's the 70's all over again (w/o Jimmah "Double-Digit" Carter though, at least):

There is either a connection between islam and terrorism, or there is not. If there is, then islam needs to be either changed to a profound degree and at a fundamental level, or excised. If, on the other hand, it is claimed that such a linkage between islam and terrorism does not exist, evidence needs to be produced to refute the anecdotal evidence we are all aware of.

Excision of islam could, arguably, include removal of sites regarded as integral to islam.

Therefore, I contend that the sentiment expressed in "nuke mecca" may not be entirely misguided.

For the same reason Hollywood street gangs consist of one black guy, one white guy, a hispanic and an asian.

I'm with you. Heck, we don't even have to do it while people are there. We can tell them, very politely, that they need to please vacate the area for a few minutes, as we have some nuking to do. If they refuse to get out of the way... well... they WERE warned, weren't they?

No, I'm not kidding. I hate this religion.

"I fear this is a pattern..."

I fear that you are right. The worst of all possible worlds would be Islam and the left joining forces, and I think that's probably what's going to happen.

NUKE
MECCA

A nice thought, but it elevates the enemy to a higher plane than they deserve, and I suspect it'd be far more effective to occupy it, and staff the place with Janissaries, perhaps from Turkey.

If that doesn't work, turn the place into a hog farm.

Nuking it remains the third and final option.

And it takes out of production valuable land that could be used for the production of livestock. Surely we could interest some hard-working Mexicans, desperate to escape the overcrowding of some areas of their native land, in serving as tenant farmers.

Remember too though, that the terrorist gunmen who shot up Lod Airport in 1972 were Asian, members of the Japanese Red Army, operating in support with their Arab/Moslem allies.

And too, the motion picture Black Sunday released shortly after the Munich Olympic massacre, named Arab Moslems as terrorists bent on causing a mass casualty incident via a terrorist bombing of a SuperBowl game.

As much as we may become frustrated by the bloody bastards committing genocide in Allah's name, we must separate the religion from those terrorizing mankind with their irrational hatred, IMHO...to do otherwise would be wrong, both morally and strategically...MUD

I agree...International Terrorism is the Left's latest justification for ever-expanding Federal and International--i.e. United Nations--Leviathans, and thereby the Enemy of all FReedom-loving sheeples!!
