There are so many catch phrases that I found out by researching that are not in the Constitution. But I cannot believe a Circuit Court used a catch phrase to base their case on and not the Constitution.

Ultimately, the problem can only be solved by separation of School and State.

Do you discount the role of "GOD" in the formation of our nation?

A witness who wishes need not say "So help me, God", if their religious beliefs (or lack therof) forbid them from doing so.

Haven't read all the posts yet,but have any of you Bushies stopped to consider that some of theses 9th Circuit judges were appointed by REPUBLICANS in the first place? Both parties have done such a wonderful job of trashing The Constiution, that there is less and less to "conserve" every day.I only see one solution, and that is to dump our two party system. If fewer and fewer voted for a Republcrat,or gave them any money, the party(ies)would shrivel up and become irrelevant on their own.The only way to get judges on the bench who believe in The Constitution, and the Godly principles behind it,is to elect leaders who do.This bunch YOU Republicans(Don't blame me,I supported Buchanan.)helped put in office, should tell you that you will never get this from the GOP!

It is not the fact that religion is being practiced in public, or how often one hears the word God (God bless the USA is one of my favorite songs), but such reference to any religion should not be done by the State [schools and our Pledge of Alligence(created from a bill)are part of the State]

The federal government is DICTATING to the people who pay for the public schools, read the public square, that the words One Nation Under God, cannot be uttered by their children. That is the essence of communism, be it Satli's brand or Mao's.

To exercise means to do something vigourously. Wake up yound dude!

Thanks.

In fact, wouldn't that be something?!

The biblical TEN COMMANDMENTS (if we have it right) shown on the very (taxpayer-funded, public) LOGO of the CIRCUIT COURT that says this 26 Day of June 2002, that the US Pledge of Allegiance violates a separation of church and state.....

When a public schoolteacher - a representative of the gov't - stands before a class and leads them in a recital of the Pledge of Allegiance, the gov't is indeed indoctrinating children in a religious belief (i.e. "under God") without their parents' approval or the approval of the taxpayers, many of whom may not be religious.

If the words "under God" hadn't been added to the pledge in the first place, or if those words were removed, there wouldn't be a problem.

I'm in the Bay Area. Let's all go to SF and demonstrate!! Let's bring our flags, our children and let's all loudly recite it so they can hear- let them cringe and plug thier ears and go "la-la-la I can't hear you!"

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands one nation UNDER GOD indivisible with liberty and justice for all.

My favorite resonse so far, from the home schoolers:

MEDIA ADVISORY

STATEMENT OF J. MICHAEL SMITH, PRESIDENT OF HOME SCHOOL LEGAL DEFENSE ASSOCIATION - on the declaration by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals that reciting the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools is unconstitutional.

"It remains legal to recite the pledge of allegiance in every private home school in America, and I suspect that there will be more parents taking advantage of this than ever before."
